A tip for planting tomatoes, put an indigestion tablet or ground up egg shells in the bottom of the hole before planting. The calcium will be absorbed by the plant and it is supposed to prevent blossom end rot. Also you should break off the bottom row of leaves and plant them deep, this will encourage more roots and produce a stronger plant.

Thank you for this wonderful tip. We do know about the egg shells, but we have never tried that. We feed those back to chickens sometimes. We usually add crushed up shells and epsom salt to our beds for the tomatoes. In this video, not because that bed had been prepped already with those amendments. The deep planting is something we did do, but not as deep as you recommend, we will try that out next time for sure :D Have you ever used epsom salt?

Yes we think so as well! We have two very young trees planted!!! Alfarrobeiro is the Portuguese name :) We planted more but not all survived the first winter... Will keep you posted!

I know how surprised you must feel ;) there is also red rice!!! This, one point in time, was also a surprise to me :D I prefere the black over the red, but they are both great.
