Well it helps them to know that a lot of stuff is semi- to straight-up scripted, there's some really good videos out there that analyze different fights on the show and pick out what's real and what's not so real. Like lots of times the producers will tell them where to stand, tell them what kind of stuff they should say, etc. And they ALWAYS let Cathy into the dressing room, there are bodyguards out there to keep fans out but the producers 100% send Cathy in there. Plus she's very much playing a character, her and Abby are actually friends outside the show
Holly, her kid Nia and Cathy's kid. Like idk how Cathy's kid turned out so good. She is like a little calm mom who is like " I can't deal with my kid ( who is my mom ) and I'm not going to stress myself out with her shit xD )
i’m convinced she put up with the bullshit only for nia!! she was the big picture and the potential. some of the other moms were in it for money and fame themselves i think holly truly just wanted to give nia the best shot possible at a successful dance career. she was so graceful the whole series.
While the other mothers scream and curse at Abby every episode, the only time Holly ever yelled was telling the girls to leave during the Kelly-Abby fight
I think she was lowkey worried about seeming like an angry black person/Nia got less attention as it was & she didn’t want her punished/ she was a principal or whatever so she knew how to be calm

I've met with Holly and Nia before, they are literally the sweetest when you talk to them. They were my favorite during the show (because they are actually sane) and they are for sure still sensible people. Nia and Holly were just trying to stay out of the drama, and they ended up showing great character.
Their toxic atmosphere is probably what made Kenzie quit dancing 💀can't imagine living your whole life being compared to someone and realizing your own mother as a matter of fact also prefers her over you

as someone who did theatre at a dance company like this for years, i wish i could say this show was highly exaggerated for the camera. it’s not. screaming matches were commonplace around competition, even between teachers and the children. they were absolutely horrible to everyone who wasn’t a “favorite” and were also incredibly ableist to me when i got diagnosed. even watching these little clips i’m like “i remember stuff like this happening at the dance studio almost verbatim”
i thought kids gets traumatised around dysfunctional family members and abusive family environments and this has proved that these moms will not only traumatise their own children by yelling at every person they meet but also traumatise everyone else in the vicinity
I'm going to have to go with Christi, I think. She acts so stricken, clutching the pearls and also covering that mouth as she casually watches everything unfold. She's a woman of few words, but when she has something to say, you hear it.

If we’re being honest Kelly was Abby’s student when she was younger and Kelly was treated the worst of the moms and Brooke and Paige were constantly screwed over. Abby honestly should have been calmer with Kelly during that final fight. It didn’t take long for Abby to start screaming at her. When Kelly was having an issue Abby should’ve said “let’s go out in the hall and resolve this” It’s more professional and they could’ve talked about the issues more calmly without Brooke and Paige having to leave the team.
I miss watching Dance Moms so much. It makes me so nostalgic, especially because I had family that did competitive dance, and it was JUST like this, even without reality show cameras around. Absolutely chaotic

A The girls are grown women basically. Like Mackenzie and Brynn are 15, Maddie, Kendall, Camryn and Jojo are 17. Everyone else (not in season 8) is a grown woman now.

JoJo's pretty rad. She gets a lot of shit for being a girl who doesn't dress or act the way we want teenage girls to act but as far as celebrities go she's pretty level headed and takes being a good example to kids seriously... I think people misconception about her comes from teenagers and adults watching her content wanting to be entertained when it's clearly for children. i know this video is old and we’re here for memes but i looked holly up while watching and nia graduated high school 3 days ago!! it’s really pleasant to see a kid that endured this kind of environment be successful & look so happy (there was a photo, she was hugging her mom and had a genuine not-staged smile). getting to be normal after all this must be so nice. also congrats to anyone who graduated this month, i know it’s not how you expected it to be but you made it thru
