Estate Sale Find: A Box Full of Vinyl for $35. Was It Worth It?

I was just out driving around on Saturday and ran across an Estate Sale in the beautiful, little town of Rochester, Alberta. I asked about vinyl and he offered to sell me a box for $35, mostly sight unseen. Some of the jackets are in rough shape and a few discs need some cleaning, but overall, the records are in great shape. But, what were the titles/artists? Was it worth it? Watch and make your own judgement and leave a comment about what you think.

So far.. Your John Renbourn, Stone Pony's are my favs, with Nevada Fighter. Very cool Nektar ! Sweet OMD, Beggars opera, I don't know about. I will try and stream it on RU-vid.( I found out they're from Glasgow and obviously signed to Vertigo ). Good analogy about BOC influencing bands later on. Nice score on the Apple Mary Hopkin ! John Mayall has 3 in a row brilliant albums in the 90's.. I think on Silvertone Records. Watching the rest, Mike.. You did good !

Quite the eclectic collection. Unbeatable price. I am almost jealous. I checked out a few of the lesser known 70's bands and they were amazing.

@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 A lot of those records are ones that I've been on the lookout for because I had seen them shown and talked about on other VC channels. I found it interesting that there were several of them all together like that because you don't see them that often. I think Dylan at Noble Records introduced a few of those on his channel a while back like Babe Ruth and maybe even Crowbar. I don't remember who showed what first but I do know that I became aware of them from other channels.

There are some really good records in this batch. I'd say you got your money's worth! And, OMD too. Stanlow, on that album, is one of my fav OMD tracks.

@@TheVinylLoungeMtl It also pays to ask if they have vinyl they want to sell when you don't see it. I'm surprised at how many people are happy to sell it when I ask them.

Hi Mike , the Beggars Opera is pretty unusual , I ve just picked up the debut by them . Vertigo swirl too . Bit of a shame about the cover . Well worth it

Well, I'll probably eventually find a cover for it somewhere, though it might be the wrong edition or something, but at least the vinyl is in good shape.

Mike, you did well. The first couple of Linda Ronstadt/Stone Ponys titles look fantastic. The Cold Blood album is incredible! It's my favorite from their catalog, and the label is excellent. It's always great to pick up a Dylan title.😎

@@mad4vinyl802 Just those things alone made it worth it for me, but then there ended up being a lot of "cherries" inside that box. Yes some of the covers are in sad shape, but all of the records are in great shape with only a couple needing some deep cleaning. Like you have said before, it always pays to ask if they have any records they want to get rid of.

Some great records there. That Roches album is a favorite. Also, that Nektar album is also really good. I have two Beggar's Opera albums but yours is new to me. East Side Story is a masterpiece. Just an amazing record. Congrats!

The moral of the story that I need to always remember is to always ask at estate sales and yard sales if they have any vinyl the want to get rid of. Most people know that it's in demand, but they don't always know what it's going for, so you can make good deals. There was a lot of stuff there that I had been looking for, albeit in better condition, but I'm not complaining.
