The desert is due to Humboldt Current. The reason why Peru has so many pre-incas cultures in the coast as Moche, Chimu, Pachacamac, Nazca, Chiribaya . . .

Wait so the how does the Humbolt Current causes both the desert to be? I was under the impression that The desert was cause by the Andus which keep the clouds and humidity on the side of the Amazon@@carlosespinoza2453

it rains in both sides of the Andes, several rivers going downward from the highlands to both Oceans, Pacific and Atlantic ( along Amazon river) . Cold water means no precipitation in the coast up to 1,000 meters over the sea level. That is why we can see the first 1,000 meters with no vegetation at all. You might have noticed this while driving in Peru Lima city has 2 rivers going across Rio Chillon and Rio Rimac. All the coastal towns cities has or an stream of water or a river. As a side note, Ecuador does not have Humboldt current so no pre-incas cultures and no civilization at all and ecuador has green coastal area but not the abundance of fish as Peru. Main reason why Peru was created Ceviche -> very easy fishing near the coast + extreme abundance of fish

So the cold water is affecting precipitation in low altitude therefore preventing vegetation but at the same time providing fish food. Was that fish sufficient because I’m imagining that agriculture must have been difficult on the other hand no?
