I have never seen an Esther Williams film, and am blown away by her movement- what talent! And the choice of Elfman's music makes it so much more fantastical- like a fairytale, real-life mermaid! The second half of this video is adorable though, and her wardrobe is astounding! The most incredible gowns, so glamorous. Great tribute Doug, showcases Esther beautifully. She truly was the Queen of Technicolor!
1:10 sò beautiful, the music of Elfman. But, the whole tribute is wonderful to a true icon of movies, Esther Williams. Thanks again....great vid, and great editing.
Wonderful! Thanks to you, Doug, we're rediscovering some great Hollywood stars of the past. A very good idea to divide the screen and show Esther not only as a mermaid. Great editing and the quality of the video! And on the New Year's Eve we've got such a summer video!
@MonroeSmile Thank you, Claud! If there could ever be an actress who could be in a Disney movie but wasn't, it was Esther Williams...her movies were a more innocent, idealistic genre.
Hey Doug, I'm really glad this your last job!! You did a great editing here!! This is a tribute bubbly, vivacious and joyful!! "26 miles (Santa Catalina)" is particularly suitable for Esther Williams!! From what I know about Williams, I think that was a swimmer in real life. I like the division of scenes!! Also another video dedicated to Cyd Charisse and Ricardo Montalban you were original and unique, in doing the editing!
1:24 The Edward Scissorhands theme? a wonderful touch. This lady was of my parents' generation. My mother enjoyed her immensely. !:32 I thought I knew my cinematic history, but Esther Williams & Tom & Jerry was news to me. her 1st movie was an Andy Hardy movie with Micky Rooney. She was...can I say it...seriously cute! About 60 years ahead of the kawaii curve; if you catch my drift
I love Edward Scissorhands, and think that the Ice Dance is one of the nicest modern incidental music pieces. The swimming scenes are so beautiful and dreamy- Esther makes it look so much easier than it actually would be. Her outfits are all so stunning as well! Who's the man at 5:34 in the flowers with her?
@poeticjustice2345 Sorry you feel that way. I already responded before since I don't watch your videos and I don't think you use the same effects or did tributes to Cyd and Ricardo, Yvonne De Carlo, etc. I hope you don't think Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downey is bad since it is faithful to the book. If Esther has 100,000 more fans because we do tributes, it's best for her.
