Estonia is a beautiful country located in Northern Europe, on the eastern coast of the Baltic Sea.
The capital city is Tallinn, which is also the largest city in the country.
The population of Estonia is approximately 1.3 million people.
The official language is Estonian, which is related to Finnish, however, many Estonians also speak English, especially in tourist areas.
The national currency is the Euro (€), as Estonia is a member of the Eurozone.
Estonia covers a land mass of around 45,227 square kilometers, making it one of the smaller countries in Europe.
Some of the major rivers in Estonia include the Pärnu River, the Narva River, and the Emajõgi River.
When it comes to lakes, some of the best ones to visit in Estonia include Lake Peipus, which is the fifth largest lake in Europe, and Lake Võrtsjärv, known for its rich biodiversity.
Estonia also boasts a long coastline along the Baltic Sea, offering several beautiful beaches such as Pärnu Beach and Narva-Jõesuu Beach.
While Estonia is a relatively flat country, it does have a few hills and uplands.
The highest peak is Suur Munamägi, standing at a modest height of 318 meters.
Aside from the capital city, there are several other towns worth visiting such as Tartu, known for its historic university and picturesque Old Town, and Pärnu, a popular spa resort town with sandy beaches.
Estonia is a member of both the European Union (EU) and the Schengen Zone.
This means that citizens of EU and Schengen countries can visit Estonia without a visa and can travel freely within the Schengen Area.
However, for citizens of other countries, visa requirements may apply.
When it comes to driving in Estonia, a vignette is not required to travel on the roads, however, there may be road tolls on certain highways, so it's important to have sufficient cash or a payment card with you while driving.
The general speed limits are 50 km/h within cities and towns, 90 km/h on open roads, and 110 km/h on highways, unless otherwise indicated by road signs.
In terms of shopping, most shops are open from Monday to Saturday, with shorter hours on Sundays, however, larger supermarkets and shopping centres often have longer opening hours.
Some popular grocery stores include Selver, Prisma, and Rimi.
Wild camping is allowed as long as you choose a suitable location and follow the principles of “Leave No Trace”.
The country offers a variety of camping sites, both in nature reserves and private campgrounds.
When it comes to tourist attractions, Estonia offers a rich cultural heritage and beautiful natural landscapes.
Some must-visit attractions include the UNESCO-listed Old Town of Tallinn, the Lahemaa National Park, the island of Saaremaa, and the charming town of Viljandi, known for its annual folk festival.
The price of a litre of beer can vary depending on the location and the brand, but it is generally affordable compared to many other European countries.
Similarly, the price of a litre of wine can also vary, but it is typically reasonably priced.
