Saunas don't originate from just Finland, but also from Estonia and from the general surrounding areas. Estonian sauna culture is quite similar to Finnish sauna culture though.
Finnish and Estonian people where still one ethnic group 1000...2000 years ago. And the saun/sauna was in our culture and life way before this separation. Saun/sauna is our common ancient culture with lot of other common things and names. We share a lot of names for birds, trees, tools, animals and so on from this time together over 2000 years ago. Some names are still very similar and a lot have not changed at all: kuusk/kuusi, lepp/leppä, kõiv/koivu, leil/löyly, viht/vihta. Unchanged are Ilves, lumi, vesi, kuu, raha, käsi, meri, kala, tuli, susi.To name a very few. Finnish word for sauna and sauna itself became world known from America. From the time hundreds of thousands finnish people went to dig gold from there and took theyr culture with them.
A lot of the big travel vloggers met up in Estonia and played boardgames and never looked at anything. I'm sure they crossed it off their lists without ever giving it a chance and it's so disappointing. Thank you for really looking at what Estonia has to offer.
This was truly magical. I recently moved back to Estonia after three-ish years abroad and have been enjoying my time back thoroughly. But seeing this video made me realize how much there is still left for me to explore in my own home country, and I cannot wait to start doing it all once I'm a bit more settled. While there are a lot of vegans in Estonia, they have a lot of people for religious purposes do not eat meat or dairy on Fridays. :) These are wonderful alternatives and my family In Hungary has learned a lot of vegan menus because they also do not eat meat on Fridays
Vegan producs are still vegan, but human taste buds dont prefer Vegan food, so most Vegan food is produced that way it has familiar taste, but dont consist meat. Thought Vegan sausages taste like sausages i still dont like them, they are not that hearty, and you realy need to eat alot to fill you up.
