I'm glad Degrassi introduced a transgender character, I think it's something the world needs. Before Degrassi, I didn't even know transgender people existed! I was so confused at first, was Adam a tomboy, a girly looking boy? (I wasn't aware he was played by a girl at first) Degrassi taught me what a transgender person is and I find not only Adam's story, but what transgender people go through very interesting. To be born in the wrong body...I can't imagine what they're going through.
I live in America.. I hate the fact that we have way more important stuff going on to worry about than a simple story line in a tv show, i mean it's a tv show! if it really bothers some people so much, don't watch it.. it's as simple as that. there are worse things on tv, there are people like Adam's character all over the world. & if people think these story lines influence teens to make the wrong decisions then there was already something wrong with these people to begin with. Sigh, America.
Okay I don't regret that I live in America. I am a huge degrassi fan. I've watched this show non-stop for 3 years. Not everyone in America is "LGBT bashing" , but whoever is making the complaints about Adam is down right ridiculous. Basically, I'm am upset with people trying to make a big deal over Degrassi cause it's not necessary, BUT say exactly who's against it, and don't just say, "Oh, Americans hate trans" cause I am emotionally connected to this show regrardless of where I am.
I love the character Adam and I agree that he is a boy. I feel bad that Im an American and that some people in America can't except the idea that this show is trying to show the real lives of all types of teens in very dramatic ways. I love Degrassi because it always teaches a new lesson about life as a teen. So sorry to the offended Canadians..
I wanna know what episode this is in. I watch degrassi to see how to deal with my sexual orientation because I'm transgender just like Adam so he's basically my role model
cheryl hickey... lol. but i will always support gender reassignment. anyways. yes, it's against some religions but this is that person's choice, not yours and frankly, it doesnt even involve you.
