How in the world?! …only 42 likes?! This video was AWESOME! Will be buying the rules and campaign books next paycheck… because you showed me what is in the book. Thank you again for all you have done. Hope to see you back soon!

My group will probably play our first ESR game this weekend. It should be pretty cool.

Let me know what you think, we are still in the planning stages.

@@CounterProductiveGames I will do so. We're planning on using one of the intro scenarios with Mid-War Russians vs French

@@willrobinson5350 Excellent, we are also looking at the starting scenarios. Seems a logical place to start with new rules.

Gonna see any reports of this?

Slightly random, but since you liked Brigade Fire and Fury, have you tried Age of Eagles, the Napoleonic rules based on Fire and Fury?

I haven't tried it. My friend has a copy of the rules, I should give that a read.

AoE is definitely a great ruleset, currently my favorite as I await ESR coming in the mail. :)

Thanks for filming this, recently I became more interested in land minis game but again, only providing they can be easily converted to board game grid. I was pleasantly surprised to see there are rulesets accomodating fixed grid like To The Strongest or upcoming Strength & Honor😁

I'm the exact opposite. If I want to play a board game, I will and I want my miniatures games to have free movement, otherwise I'll stick to Go or Chess.

@@willrobinson5350 Completely understand - I'm mostly looking at the ancient rulesets as I've not reqply found what I'm looking for on the board gaming side...

i got 2nd edition and it is impressive - a great all in one book full of lists, designing scenarios, rules, examples etc - but the 3rd edtion sadly seems so stripped back to be lacking all the thigns one needs to actually play the game , i wish at the very least some basic elements were provided to be able to play the game, instead you have to collate bits and pieces from the website or pay money for unit decks and commander decks per army - it seems all broken up like a games workshop product now, every part an expense. I would have preferred just an all in one book and have it at a higher price. also i dont imagine the complexity and unique nature of ESR will be one that people new to napoleonics would be going to first, this is more for folks wanting a more realistic operational level game

I hate to say I agree as I really wanted more from ESR 3. I have tried on my own to learn how to play, but something is just not clicking and I think it will just sit on my shelf until someone can teach me how to play. At least they still have old fashioned unit rosters on the web site.

@@CounterProductiveGames i think by streamlining the rules, alot of the examples to help illustrate how to play have been removed which kind of is the opposite of what any beginning players new to napoleonics would need. If someone could get in the authors ear to encourage him to make a "complete" edition for volume 3, that contains all the unit and commander stats and has more how to play examples, that would make for a monumentally good edition

Well book is 100 pages but 40 pages are a history plus a glossary since much of the following text is in various languages. Lots of errors eg. French 8 pdr Artillerie a cheval (8 # HA which never existed in French service) and references to 'Dragons' where he means dragoons. Lots of other 'odd' word choices e.g embarrassing terrain and 'ploy' for forming a column which is a completly novel use of the word.
