Etchmiadzin (Vagharshapat) is the 4th-largest city in Armenia (former capital of ancient Greater Armenia) and the most populous municipal community of Armavir Province, located about 18 km (11 mi) west of the capital Yerevan, and 10 km (6 mi) north of the closed Turkish-Armenian border. The city is best known as the location of Etchmiadzin Cathedral.
Etchmiadzin Cathedral is the mother church of the Armenian Apostolic Church, located in Armenia. According to scholars it was the first cathedral built in ancient Armenia (303 - 484 AD) and is considered the oldest cathedral in the world. Along with several important early medieval churches located nearby, the cathedral was listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2000.

When you go to etchmiadzin, you understand how Armenian are indeed the first Christians in the world. I went to Armenia 10 years ago, and etchmiadzin left me a deep impression. A beautiful place full of artefact. The people there were so nice. Armenia is such a beautiful country. And Armenian church and procession are something else, really out of this world. My family is Armenian on my mother side, and every time I feel like going to church, I go to Armenian church. I was baptized in Armenian church and Armenian ceremonies are the most beautiful… it’s always left me with raw feelings coming from my gut…. Our derder do know how to sing the law of god…. I do not speak the language and yet, when I listen to the mess in Armenian or when I hear Armenian songs, I always get this feeling : yeah, your blood is Armenian, without a shadow of the doubt. Anyway, if you travel to Armenia, etchmiadzin is a must see

At the time of our visit to the church, restoration work was going on. Therefore, we went through the church building to the Museum, which is located in the building of the same church.

@@Ecoclimax Thanks for the reply! Anyhow faith is definitely not relying on any relics for sure, but to see Bill Crouses/Timo Rollers (Morija Media) alternative ark story in one more instance corroborated would have been fun! Did you then read or hear about that wooden mini ark remaint?
