I second this comment! what is great is they really go through ins and outs of the game and give you good overview about what is actually going on. Other reviewers from much bigger companies (not naming names) seem like they barely play it and inform you of everything you just seen in the trailer or read on back of the game box. And this is why just looking at the number score of a review isn't very helpful beyond a very surface level interpretation. You can tell from the actual CONTENT of the review that they loved it, but there are many drawbacks and asterisks to the experience, so the overall number is lower than how they feel. Numbers are an okay guide to get a general consensus, but they really don't tell you shit about what a reviewer actually thought.

Your reviews are always the ones I look out for with these small titles and others of course that are usually not reviewed by anyone else (Neptunia, one of personal favorite series). Can’t wait to play this!
One thing is that i disagree that dungeons are hard to explore, for me they were very easy. It's very unnoticeable at 1st, but there is always some sort of light guiding you to the right way. In the city cases its arrows. I think it is a pretty good way of guiding the characters, as they are fighting for a bright future. (Not sure if it is the intended message)
While playing the demo, the english voice acting was what kept me hooked. It felt really good and engaging that I had to hear more from that mysterious girl. The dating aspects and combat was the cherry on top, I'm sure gonna be picking this up
Glad this is only a 10 hour game and considering only $30 price point that is smart and reasonable on the developers. As much as I love a 80-100 hour plus persona game, sometimes a short game especially a short jrpg is a nice break. Not every game has to be long as long as gameplay and story is there.
It’s a great game reminded me so much of persona with the social stats and confidants wish it was a longer game enjoyed every second of this got platinum i was looking forward to this if u played persona or into games like this you’ll enjoy it for sure

I'll be honest that I was in the negative camp for this game during its reveal on sony's showcase with the "Press R2 to hold hands." But I liked the concept of turning a dating sim into an action rpg so I kept my eyes on it. I was genuinely surprised when I played the demo earlier this summer, became an instant pre-order for me personally so I'm glad to hear from your review that it essentially lived up to what I expected. I'm not sure if the end leaves it open for a sequel but I'd like to see either the developer or someone else take the foundation and build on it some more. In the meantime I'm looking forward to my playthrough this week! Great review as usual.
I am so glad I preordered this on Steam at 10% off. I played the demo a few months ago and instantly fell in love with the art style, story, cringy jokes and combat. Can’t wait to play through the full game. Thanks for the review, cheers.
Sounds like a good “first game” for a studio then. Bout what I expected. They need to get some new writers though, not as replacements but as influence. I hope it sells well and we get an even better game next time.
I kinda figured this game would be at least over a 7 but under a 8. I imagine not everyone will want to play it but it does find it's audience, I'd love to see what more this studio can do.
Thanks for the review, I can save my money on this one! Simple and repetitive combat, cringe dialogue, wonky animations........... I think the target demographic for this is someone a lot younger than 28 lol. I'll wait till Persona 3 Reload to come out.
This sound crazy but 2023 is peak modern gaming title, the great game keep cooming in Eternight is not on the top tier for sure but it is a nice rest area, a relaxing dating game like this is a nice for a while

can someone please answer my question! are you forced to be a heterosexual in this game, or be involved in a hetero romance? or can you choose to be either gay or hetero etc?
You can choose between Yuna, Min, Sia or Yohan. Chani is the only non-dateable character, and you can either go full player or asexual. If you romance one person to the end, you’ll achieve the “true” ending
Indie game developers always get bigger scores. If this was some niche Japan studio, it would get 6/10. People comparing this to Persona game are crazy...

In my experience, it’s possible to love something despite recognising its flaws! Star Ocean 3 has some awful design decisions and plot beats, but it’s still my favourite JRPG over the really refined and almost flawless ones!
They have ghost song which had serious issues like 9-9.5 and sea of stars the same. I used to trust their scores but not anymore. Basically no mainstream channels score should be trusted. Why am i still around then you ll ask, cause i hope they ll return to their past honestly scoring glory that was going against the mainstream channels
Too bad we have to wait a few months for the physical release. At least this will give some time to see more reviews and if there are any serious bugs that need to be addressed.
I dont know, if you guys were holding back from comparing this game to persona, but the dev literally stated that they made this game because they played persona games couple of years ago and got inspired by it. That being said, I'd love to see a second or third game by studio SAI. I'm surprised how they even finished and released this game this early, since a lot of ambitious indie games get stuck in dev hell for years for one reason or another, like Yandere Simulator. Well, at least it seems like Eternights knew what they wanted the game to be and didnt overload it with features. Also, I'd wish the game used 2D character sprites when they talk, like in persona, instead of 3D ones, because they look kinda awkward and weird, I feel like the game would look overall better, if they did that.
The art looks great but the character models are a bit lacking. Like it's missing a bit of shading. Wish they could polish that up. But the gameplay looks great.
They got financial help from Sony, Shuhei Yoshida involvement. It's in the same vein as those China Hero Projects, and it will come to other platforms after some time.
Curious what “meatier JRPGs” come out this month? Baldur’s and Sea of Stars were last month and are both meaty, for sure, but September? Nayuta and Baten Kaitos are all I can think of, unless you mean Monochrome Mobius. And Nayuta is short compared to “regular” Trails games. This seems like a decent palate cleanser in between bigger titles.
