Ethan Hallmark was just another kid baseball player. Little did he know he would become a reluctant community icon after courageously fighting stage 4 neuroblastoma, a rare type of childhood cancer.
I Am Second started out to produce a White Chair Film with Ethan similar to the other films here at iamsecond.com. However, as the story unfolded, the project grew to include his family, friends and hometown of Midlothian, Texas. It grew beyond the bounds of the white chair and into a short documentary film capturing the life Ethan embodied - courage through suffering that inspired an entire community.
Ethan’s story is bigger than one boy. It’s about a family and a community intertwined in something larger - a journey called life that we take together.
When that journey leads us to the darkest of places, we discover that even just a small amount of light can overcome it.

Spencer, the young man giving the prayer in the school prayer meeting, is my cousin. Ethan was his best friend. I couldn't finish this video.

Thank you for posting this during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Kids really do get cancer too and when they die it takes a piece of your soul.

🕊 Ethan caught the best fish ever on that Hawaiian beach in November 2011, a fish named Aaron Palmer… and more fish to come, the lost sheep! Thank you Father in Heaven, this is how much You love us, especially the lost sheep! Please read and share this godly story and the continuity of it written on CBN News titled “The Miracle on Maui: A Stranger’s Encounter with a Dying Boy Leads to Redemption and Transformation” posted on 3/4/24. God is good, tell people around you that it is still time to call upon Him with all their heart. Tell them that Jesus loves them, they can talk to Him now with all their heart and He will hear them and will respond to them in His special ways. People needs to reserve their place in Heaven now. Wow.... I cried tragic tears through the whole thing, but wow, talk about God using all things for His good purpose!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I struggle with faith sometimes but I am certain of this much - Ethan has indeed heard God say "Well done, good and faithful servant." No doubt about it.
