This joke was kind of obvious, I imagined Will Smith finding the script on the highway before Conan said it, and I'm sure other people did too, the opportunity to picture it was just in your face, but yeah, Conan's quick wit is incredible. The only quicker guy I can think of is Ben Shapiro.

He's always been a really private guy. I assume he only came on here because he's friendly with Conan. He never did/does press for movies. He doesn't even like doing big movies. He's really a true actor, he loves the actual craft, not the celebrity part of it all.

Ethan Hawke knew the film wouldn't wow critics and he was right. However, he underestimated how financially and culturally well the film would perform in the eyes of the general audience!

So after a quick Wiki search I found that one of the members of NSP is in GameGrumps. I don't watch GameGrumps but I know of them through the Yogscast and Good Mythical Morning, that's cool that they're on Conan. It's weird that I've never heard of Ninja Sex Party but I knew who one of the members was all along.

He is my favourite actor, his acting skills are just fantastic, some of his great movies include Before Sunshine's trilogy, boyhood, training day, magnificent seven, Dead poets society, first reformed. All of his movies with Richard linklater are just fantatsic

Hawke is probably one of the best actors of the past 20-30 years. It's insane that he could star in films like *Gattaca, Sinister, First Reformed, Training Day,* all of his Linklater collaborations, his sf/fantasy work with the Spierigs, and I always buy into it. He always feels plausible and driven and emotionally clear.

Gary Oldman said the same thing about EDWARD SCISSORHANDS: he didn't get it and turned it down. He sees it when it comes out, 2 minutes in, he sees the castle on the hill above the suburbs and says "I get it now." Sometimes there's that one little thing that you just have to see on screen before everything else makes sense.

Take a chance at roles? Like michael bay films? as supposed to a movie that took like 12 years to make because the child actor had to grow up in real time? Or a movie with denzel washington as the bad guy? Or a semi-intellectual sci fi movie that isn't just a glorified action flick with robots or aliens? Those kind of risks?

If you haven't, watch a movie titled "Tape" from 2001, with him, Robert Sean Leonard, and Uma Thurman (the only 3 actors in it). I had to google it for the title, because I then watched it on TV randomly on some Saturday night, but it just stuck with me, the setting/story/acting. Kinda psychological drama with the whole action taking place in just one room, experience close to a theater, where you can really appreciate their acting skills.

Independence Day was not a GOOD movie but it was a great popcorn flick that somehow ended up being a cultural touchstone right in my formative years. I can totally relate to how Ethan Hawke would not want to do the movie after reading the script, and fail to see how it could come together, because I'm sure I'd do the same thing! I was thinking about Ethan Hawke lately going "where is that guy?" and then Conan interviews him! Thanks Conan! Those telepathy classes are really paying off ;)

a. I like hearing such an honest story. b. I wonder if he will get into a little trouble for telling this story. (a producer or movie exec who doesn't appreciate hearing this. "So you actually tossed the script out the car window... Didn't appreciate what we were offering you...") Note: I LIKE Independence day when it came out. It is a stupid movie on paper, just brainless fun.
