Her pronouns are she/her!. I know this EP probably isn’t the best first impression but PLEASE you have to trust that she 100000% changed her sound after this😭😭 There’s zero autotune on Preacher’s Daughter and the songs that are long don’t feel like it at all, and the whole album is solo. I swear I’m not exaggerating when I say Preacher’s Daughter is actually her magnum opus. She uses her voice SO much more and the production is so much cleaner PLEASE don’t take this EP as her whole sound I beg of you😭😭😭🙏🙏
@@charliedixon6936 TRUST me I know, I literally love this EP😭 I was just trying to encourage her to give Preacher’s Daughter a chance without being one of those people who say that her opinion is wrong or something😭😭
she does produce everything in her music including guitar and all instruments (except the drums i think) so kudos to ethel for being and incredible pianist and guitar player
Ethel definitely has some good live performances (DSCVR artists to watch, Coachella, Pitchfork Music Festival, KEXP) that showcase her vocals. I’d recommend checking out any of those!
Preacher's Daughter will NOT disappoint! That album is such a masterpiece and I would give everything to experience it again for the first time! 😭😭❤️ Thanks for the reaction! ☺️🙌
Please react to preachers daughter! It's really sad and changed my life. Id recommend you reading the genius lyric explanations after listening to each songs
And one more thing hahaha the vocals effects in Preacher's Daughter its more punctual, she uses in parts that make's more sense to represent other people, I don't say that much so as not to spoil your experience but in this album her voice is more clean and natural and yes she uses her real voice and her potential in full time. Ok, I think it´s obvious now that Im trying to convince you to listen to this album hahaahahahah

"pissing of the stove to put it out" refers to her being raised to do things, even odd gross stuff, by her family. Alluding to her being trained to not think gross things with her body is wrong. It desensitized her to sexual abuse from her brother. Then, an older, non related man starts abusing her. Her brother is so mentally messed up that he hasn't figured out she's being r@ped by another man, thus the line "If he wakes up he'll show you what im talking about". Even though the abuse from her brother is wrong, it's the only hope she has for being protected from the other man. Her brother, as gross as it is, is her safety net. He groomed her to only trust him.
So happy you did Inbred before PD- so rare to see, but it will make PD even more of a special first listen, being able to hear the clear growth and artistic freedom/genius. Great reaction 🫡🤝🏻
Also she did “Crush” live with KEXP and absolutely killed it!! Autotune on her earlier projects was more of a stylistic choice, and I’m REALLY glad she dropped it
FINAAAAALLLLLLYYYYYYYYYY I HOPE YOU REACT TO PREACHERS DAUGHTER ITS HER BEST ALBUM, SONGS, SOUND EVERYTHING AND THE STORY ITS AMAAAZINGGGG, personally "Inbred" its not my favorite project from her but its so good too, to me as a fan she dont have bad songs, the lyrics its always amazing!!!
Can’t wait for Preacher’s Daughter!! Just so you know, the Genius page for the song “Family Tree (Intro)” contains huge spoilers for the rest of the album so I’d recommend skipping that page if you wanted to go in completely blind!💖
This project was before she truly established her sound. This was also the project when she first got signed. I highly encourage giving Preacher’s Daughter a chance! That album showcases who Ethel is as an artist fully! (Also she can sing live! After you check out Preacher’s Daughter - check out her VEVO live performances) Yes girl! Always supporting. So proud! 🤍
The Preachers Daughter its a trilogy that she will release more 2 albums that the next will count the story of Ethel Cain (character) mother and the last one count's the story of her grandmother. The reason why she's making this trilogy is for tell how intergerational trauma can be tragic if you don't do anything to stopped. So you have to listen to Preacher's Daughter to enter the fact in the world of Ethel and know why she's a genius, when you listen to this album it's like you seeing a movie in your head, trust me you won't regret it!
I'm not actually sure what "pissing on the stove to put it out", means. Ethel had stated (I got this from at least 3 sources, but feel free to check), that she was possibly high when she wrote that line, and wasn't sure what it actually meant? LOL. but I always took it as family dysfunction. Like, instead of doing things in a "normal" manner, this family doesn't have order, and the children weren't taught how to properly handle stressful situations. (Ect, a stove being on fire, electricity going out, confrontation.)
I have a request that I think you might like. Of Monsters and Men, FEVER DREAM album. They're an Icelandic band that are so underrated. You might know them for Little Talks song.
Ok I’m writing another comment to give some context because I don’t want you to lose hope in this girl haha. I’d say this EP is her most outlandish sounding project. Her other projects don’t have nearly as much vocal editing, the lyrics are more understandable, and the production sounds cleaner. Preachers Daughter has songs that are much more relatable even though it is a rather dark concept album. And also the deluxe songs in this EP are by far some of my favorite songs she’s ever done (particularly crying during sex and earnhardt). And yes, she does play all the guitar in her songs :)
