Should scientists consider how their discoveries might be misused? Are scientists too controlled by their funders? What responsibility do scientists have toward the public?
Meeting at the elegant Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Unity Temple in Oak Park, theologians, theoretical physicists and transplant physicians pondered such questions at the Nov. 10 "Ethics in Science," the second in a series of joint speaker events that bring together faculty from the University of Chicago and scientists, researchers and engineers from Argonne National Laboratory and Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory.
Speakers include: Piermaria J. Oddone, William Schweiker, Philip Hefner, J. Michael Millis, MD, Chris Quigg, and Pam Sydelko.

I believe that this is a very intriguing concept that most scientists should have to consider an apply into their works I think once you lose or abandon ethics or ethical values completely from your work you lose your humanity granted I understand that certain situations in science in order to make a break through had to lose some ethics but losing some an completely abandoning them on purpose is completely different in how you approach

I do not see a "Contact Us" link on the NIH site. I also cannot find out anywhere online if gain of function research is being conducted anywhere in the United States. As a work-around I am using this comment field and I'm hoping someone will respond.
