I know neither who those musicians are (or were) nor who "tbanjo" is, but this here is a cultural gift to mankind. Thanks to all who'd been involved in some way or other. Now I wonder, do Ethiopian radio stations actually still play such brilliant stuff or is it just the usual international mass music crap that gets airplay there today?
This instrumental album was composed by one of the most reputable bands early in the 80s named Roha, which came after the Armenian marching band so called the 40 children who were brought to Ethiopia by emperor Haileselassie , the Imperial guard band, police band, national theatre band and other small bands like Ibex and Sol Ecos band. The Roha band we can say dominated the music arena in Ethiopia over a period of 25 years, all the great Ethiopian sigers of the time got their albums composed and accompanied by this band all albums were produced with full band snd minimal electronic compsitions with the whole band playing in the studio. Currently most of the band members live in the US. And still perform in the US forming other bands. And they frequently travel back to Ethiopia.
