I must say respectfully, that if you go back in time and relate to the Abrahamic faiths ALL women were covered. These ladies have white coverings from some beautifully decorative edgings, which must be connected to ancient traditions. I remember as a Catholic child, women wearing mantillas, a lace covering over their heads and I do believe that in some places in Italy, some still do. To me, it is just beautiful to see how traditions in some faiths can find their roots back to the time of Abraham.
