Regarding Jakarta's notorious traffic, actually you can use the airport express train to get to the airport from city center and vice versa. Been following your series since the latest Bali series, and it's all great! Keep it up 👍
I remembered the first long haul business class i flew was Etihad, a330 from hkg to auh, and 787 from auh to zrh. Boy, the business class product was indeed a huge difference. But I was just so happy that I could finally afford to fly business class!
If you clip the corners together, the amenity kit forms a small leather “dish” for placing keys, rings, cuff links watches, earrings into. Actually quite functional.
After a couple of times, I try to avoid AUH if for nothing else, it’s their airport. Right on with your assumption that the new one will never open. Certainly feels this way.
Ex Jakartan and now living full time in Bali here. Thanks for these insightful reviews. I particularly enjoy seeing the retail price of the alcoholic beverages so I know what to shoot for to get my $'s worth on these flights. Looking forward to seeing more content!
LOL, one year ago I was exactly there doing that. Our flight was late at night, the lounge was empty but food was really bad. Still, we could take a shower and change our clothes for the flight after a long day traveling to Jakarta. Cabin was also half empty and we really enjoyed the flight, with nice dinner, although breakfast was horrible. Overall, a great flight, and we loved the discreet service. Still preferring Emirates A380 with the lounge, anyhow, especially when traveling with children.
Loved how detailed this review is, you just got a new subscriber. If possible could you try reviewing gulf air? It's often looked down upon, I personally think it's a very underrated airline. Cheers
I actually flew them twice in the past week. The longer of the two was possibly the worst flight I’ve ever had … the shorter one was decent but nothing to write home about. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Is the qsuite really better if there's a 50% chance that you won't in fact get a qsuite? While the ceiling may be higher on qatar business, the floor is much much higher on etihad. Less chances of getting it wrong. Emirates... im not so sure about the 2-3-2
The vast majority of the moments of being Qatar'd happened during QR's dispute with Airbus when many aircraft were grounded. More than 75% of QR's widebody fleet now has QSuites and there are only 12 planes in total with the old style 2-2-2 business class.
@@tfft yes, to be fair, qatar's consistency has gotten considerably better as of late. They still can't match etihad tho - 100% of all widebody seats have privacy partitions and direct aisle access. So long as those a330s stay, at least some of the passengers will still get a much much worse experience
Trying to decide over 787-9 ethihad business vs. 787-9 emirates business from Washington DC, the ethihad is a little cheaper, is there a significant difference between the two? Which one would you recommend?
I notice lounges in Jakarta are generally lackluster if not abysmal. Probabaly with the exception of Garuda lounge. And I suspect it's actually by design from the airport authority.
Yes, I’ve been told by sources that claim things that there is a 38% chance it will be open prior to the next Total Penumbral Lunar Eclipse. Get it on your calendar now!
I won't make it there this year, but have West Bengal and some other northern States on my list for 2024. This year I do have a lot of content coming from India though (UP, MH, KA, TN & RJ). Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Making the videos longer with a still photo hurts video performance as it relates to the algorithm, so my working theory is, anyone who would like a deeper look can pause or screenshot the score screens 🙃 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Haha not a better way to describe Etihad nowadays then "mild pleasure", I flew this same aircraft on IAD-AUH in July, pretty long flight which ended up being lackluster, ran out of the arabic mezze before they got to me so had to settle with a cold shrimp appetizer; also the bed is really firm, so even more disappointing on such a long flight was a lack of bedding and/or mattress pad. Service was pretty robotic and to me great service can cover for the rest of the product deficiencies, but in this case it didn't- was left with a "meh" unfortunately.
Thank you again for a great review! Having just flown Qatar in business class, this video didn’t convince me to try them in the near future. Some of your remarks cracked me up, such a pleasure to watch! Hope you surpass the 25.000 subscribers mark before the end of the year, your channel absolutely deserves it! 🙏🏼
Yeah, there’s no comparison between Etihad and Qatar- but for me it always comes down to the price, so Etihad certainly has their niche (when the price is right). But their Abu Dhabi transit experience leaves a LOT to be desired as you’ll see in the next video. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Etihad could have well utilised those elsewhere invested and lost fortunes to start a budget airline which may be named Abu Air Or Arab Air. By the by the prawns biriyani is the most sought after in Asia.
Or perhaps they could have just focused on themselves and created a fantastic airline lol. And Asia is a pretty big place. I know plenty of countries where they’ve never heard of Shrimp Biryani 🙃 Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
This mediocre flight was better than I expected since I'd been anticipating something worse. Bet those Turkish passengers were envious. (From personal experience, I can say with confidence that I've never met a pomelo I didn't like. 😀)
I always thought the Gulf state airways were a disaster waiting to happen (too much capacity, lack of originating pax in the Gulf) Of course, when you have a government willing to throw money at you, it makes it fun. There early strategy was also tried by Swissair, and we saw what happened there.
I think they serve their niche well. For the price I paid, I’d happily fly them again. But if they were head to head against Qatar and the price was comparable, Qatar is the easy choice. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
Lol...competing against Emirates! No way will they succeed by just throwing money everywhere, and am happy they learnt their lesson. Emirates is a forward looking innovative company and grew step by step over the years. Just jumping up one day and throwing money to buy planes and routes won't get you anywhere.
It’s a review, not an advertisement- and it was overall a good flight with a good score. If something isn’t great, I’m not one to pretend that it is. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
To my knowledge the wine lists are dependent on region, not specific location. So at the time of my flight, Manila likely had the same wine list. Thanks for watching 🙏🏻
