Bit harsh! Most people don't have a lot of money, but how do we even know our money is going to the people that need it anyway? The plant emitted on average 100 tons of SO2 into the atmosphere every 24 hours. Years later, I worked at a petro-chemical plant in the new world. This plant processed almost twice the amount of oil and emitted on average less than 0.5 tons of SO2 into the atmosphere every 24 hours. Which plant do you think the environmentalists want to shut down? Fast forward to today and we have a single volcano on an island in the Atlantic spewing 80 000 tons of SO2 into the atmosphere every 24 hours.. I have no idea how you process the information you choose to believe, but in the light of facts that I know to be true, along with some info reported by our media, I struggle to reconcile in my mind the notion that "Human emission in one year is 35 times greater than what volcanoes produce in one year humans still the biggest cause of global warming." My opinion is that we should not believe anything the environmentalists tell us. Their track record us full of misleading lies and manipulation of information. Volcanoes don't produce nearly the amount of carbon that humans release every year. In fact they typically cool the planet due to the sulfur they emit during large eruptions. CO2 from volcanoes isn't being released all over the world either, it typically stays near the volcano in low lying areas. This phenomenon can be seen near the Mammoth Mountain volcanic complex where low lying areas trap carbon and can kill plants, wild life, and has killed people. In general you do not want to be pumping carbon into the air.

For very long time, Etna didn't produce any major eruption, the last major eruption happened in 0122 BCE, a VEI 5 one. As the most active volcano in the world, it erupted constantly but only minor eruptions. It looks like Etna finally produced another major eruption, just by looking at the ash plumes, looks like a VEI 4 or 5 but unlikely. But it's better to wait for the final official scale.

Not really. Italy, Japan, and The Canary Islands all have very famous active volcanoes that are almost always doing something. Nothing out of the ordinary, we're just lucky to be able to live stream it now.
