Today on our 2006 Infinity G35, we're going to take a look at, then show you how to install the Curt custom fit class one trailer hitch receiver. Part number is C11482. Here's what our hitch is going to look like once installed. Really clean look. You don't see a whole lot of it hanging down here from underneath the vehicle or anything like that. This is a class one, so we've got an inch and a quarter by inch and a quarter opening. It hugs right up against the bottom side of the vehicle here as you can see.
This is a class one hitch so it's going to work out really well with bike racks, there's some smaller cargo carriers available for them or even towing. It's going to have a 200 pound tongue weight rating, that's the maximum downward force we can put on the receiver tube opening and a 2000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's going to be our trailer and everything we've got loaded up. Of course, we do need to consult the manual to make sure those are allowable. If not, we will go off of whichever of those numbers is the lowest. You have a half-inch pin hole diameter.
It's going to work with all the class one accessories. You should have enough clearance on either side to make it work. The hitch immobilizer won't fit in there, so that's not going to be an option. Our safety chain connection points are nice and big. Should work with just about any style of the connectors on our safety chains or if you need to get a strap or something in there, that won't be a big deal. The first thing we need to do on our installation is to take all the stuff our of our trunk ...
With our stuff out of the way, we're going to remove the two plugs right here under the spare tire. We're going to place in one of the half-inch carriage bolts and one of the larger spacer blocks in each location. The plugs, we're not going to be reusing them, we'll just give these back to the owner. Next, lets trim out our area here. We need to go five and a quarter inches wide and we need to go three inches deep. You can see there I've marked the center of our vehicle.
Lay that up there. We're going to go two and five-eighths of an inch from that in either direction. Let's measure up three inches. We'll use a straight edge and outline that. We can use rotary tool. We can use some heavy duty sheers or what I'm going to use, a razor knife and we're going to trim out that area . Now we're going to raise our hitch up into position . Get it slid into our slot up here like that. Then lets start both of our bolts . Our hitch still wants to push down on this edge a little bit, so I am going to trim it over a little bit more; make it nice and symmetrical. There we go. That gave us the clearance room we needed there. Want to take a quick look and center our hitch up then we'll come back and tighten our nuts up . Let's remove the little push pin fastener we've got here. Now we'll push our hitch up against the bumper there. Let's mark our hole location. Do it on the passenger side and driver side. Now we can pull our hitch back down. We'll start drilling our hole out. We want to go up to a half inch hole. I'm going to use a smaller bit to start and step my way up . We'll take our fish wire or our bolt leader, pass it up in the hole, then we want to send it down towards the end of the bumper tube. See, it's come out there. Onto the end of it we're going to put on one of the smaller spacer blocks, then thread on one of the seven-sixteenth inch carriage bolts. Pull it down and guide it out of our hole there. We'll pull our fish wire and do the same thing for the passenger side . Now that we've got those down and through, let's go ahead and raise our hitch back into position . Now we'll go through and tighten down all of our hardware . Let's check out the instructions and we'll torque it down to specification . We're going to go around the outside of the block and also around our bolt here with some silicone sealant. It's going to make sure we don't have any moisture or anything like that coming in from outside. Also, it'll protect against exhaust fumes getting in the car . Give that just a second to dry and then we'll put all the stuff back in the trunk . Last thing we'll do is put in our push pin fastener just to re-secure our rear fascia. With everything nice and secure, that's going to complete today's installation of the Curt class one custom fit trailer hitch receiver, part number C11482, on our 2006 Inifnitiy G35.

Fantastic my car is set up as a street/strip drag car this will work just fine. I'm curious on the wiring set up and how much does the receiver set up weight?
