Most of the cities in ETS2 are just the industrial/commercial areas. While in ATS cities have a mixture of suburbs, residential, commercial, downtown areas and industrial. ATS has more diverse scenery. Sometimes ETS2 scenery gets repetitive.

I play ETS2 a lot and I agree, even with promods which is a massive step up from the base game and DLCs, I recently got ATS and all its DLCs, the moment I entered the game I seen a massive difference in the scenery and general details with gameplay, far better than ETS2 and I'm surprised it's the lesser played of the 2. Both are great games but I think I'm going to be playing more ATS from now on

I prefer ATS a bit more. my big problem with ETS2 is that the AI is significantly worse and will always cause traffic jams in the middle of the highway. I also just like american trucks more. ETS2 has a bit too much tight space. I like tight corners and such when it is far and few between but ATS has a perfect blend.

have been playing both for about 4 months, I really like them both. the biggest difference for me is in ATS I can go places I've been, I drove trucks all over America 1992-2005, and it's really cool when I see something I recognize. ETS gives me the opportunity to see places and things I will likely never see IRL. while I've driven most of the trucks in ATS, older models for sure but they are similar enough, it is fun to try the different Euro trucks even though I didn't like cabovers much in the real world. overall I can't say I like one more than the other, they're both about hauling freight but the where and how are varied enough to keep it entertaining.

They are basically same game with different map and different trucks. Even some ETS mods are working with ATS. ETS has just a simple and old fashioned map because it is older :)

I'm team ETS2, but that's mainly due to the fact that there is an enormous ammount of modded content available for it and you can pretty much end up trucking through half the world and mods make the scenery very nice and you can get a massive amount of both classic and more modern trucks as well. By default cities in ATS are much better looking, so for ETS2 you need mods to make the game more entertaining, but the community delivers on that. I've had difficulties finding mods of the same quality and amount for ATS.

ATS player here. I play with this game normally after a long day at work. It relaxes me before I go to bed. It also looks like ATS has a better, modern look. The roads are wider (I know EU roads are narrower).

I think I prefer more ETS 2 roads but trucks and scenery is better in ATS. I wish they would merge both and make World Truck Simulator so I could ride in both settings dpeneding on the mood without needing to change game.

I can agree on most of these. One thing that might have been a fun mention is the engines. European trucks have bigger engines than American ones. (around 625 for US and 750 for EU unmodded) Which is somewhat reflected ingame (although just barely) As for mods and "updating" ... both ETS2 and ATS communities are very very bad with updating. Except for bigger ones like Promods and Reforma. I hadn't played a while but needed to check those HP numbers quickly. After booting up ETS2, 27 mods needed updating. Even with the trucky mods, most of them had no updates. ATS gave me 17 updates of which 16 wern't updated. I had to in create a quick new cheat profile just to be able to check the numbers on both lol That said... If you are able to deal with the mod crap, it is certainly worth it. Just be prepared to be unable to play certain profiles for a while after a major update and always have a vanilla profile ready for playing in those trying times. I like both games equally, both give me a different experience. Itis the same difference for me as I have with Train Sims, I play US routes for another reason than that I play EU routes.

@@World_Earth_Ball Yeah but the usa has a very different environment from one state to another, like montana which is very mountainous and which therefore has very curved roads, then new mexico looks like Spain... I think it's a bit the same thing but the usa version of europe, then the map is still big doing a seattle - Houston is almost 4000km, a little more than the Istanbul - London trip

Its a tough choice but it comes down to what YOU prefer to play, I play both a lot and in my opinion I like ATS more than ETS2 I like American trucks more and they look better than European trucks (in my opinion) But it comes down to how things work. Ats has mostly more heavy cargo, Higher speeds, harder to park trailers. But what sells it to me the most is the scenery which I like far more then what ETS2 offered me.. Mods wise both win tbh, promods only released 2-3 years ago for ATS and the map is still in its beginning but SCS themselves are working on 2 states rn and wanting to add more than 7 to 10 in the near future.

I prefer ats, you have much more diverse scenery and iun ets2 youare basically stuck on the same highway just different surroundings like trees, in ats you are visiting towns etc. with different styles . and as an extra i enjoy the fact that you can floor the truck above 90 km/ph unlike ets2 where you can go 90 max and get fined every second whilst in ats you can drive many km's without a single speeding ticket

ETS2 for me is a winner but it is based on preference. Both are solid and should be enjoyed equally. As a truck driver I like the challenge that ETS2 offers, the tighter roads, the modded Drawback and Tandem Trailers for enhancing reversing skills, the sometimes weird annoying AI which ironically acts as glitchy as we do on the road. ATS is more chill and aesthetically pleasing while ETS2 is more challenging.

But if they are the same game but on two different continents...same engine, same graphics, same mechanics... Whoever says that the cities in Ets2 are only industrial while in ATS they have more variety, it is clear that they have not played ETS2 because nothing could be further from the truth....but hey, what do I know since I play both and I have more than 4000 hours between them. They are the same game, they are the same in performance, mechanics, physics and objectives, but with a different geographical location, nothing more. As for vehicle and map content, let's remember that ETS2 has been around for much longer than ATS, they had the maps of the original ETS, so it is normal that there is a difference, the maps of the American states have to be made while the European maps are already half created. The vehicles, at first, did not have brand licenses, now, as they have already obtained those licenses, they have to add vehicles as they are given permission and the brands provide them with the models. However, the SCS roadmap tells us that the objective is to complete the entire US map, from coast to coast...the European one is almost complete, all that remains is to improve them as they do periodically. For example, Osso to Vilnius by road is pretty much across the top of the map in ETS2. But the US/ATS equivalent is just Portland to SLC. Somethng to think about.

But if you ask me, i always go for American trucks. I prefer American trucks than European trucks. There're more balanced than euro truck for me. I am a big fan of American trucks and trains. Own both ETS2 and ATS (and with trains TSC and TSW3) but I have to agree with Vutomy. The experiences in both games are so different that despite they both being a trucking game, they both scratch another "itch" for me. I want some relaxing hours of driving with little fuzz and issues... ATS. I want to be challenged and creep trough small streets and rough terrain I pick ATS. It basically is the same with trains. I want relaxation I pick US routes, I want a challenge I pick German or UK routes.

I have been playing ETS for more than 1000 hours. I played a little bit in ATS. I think ETS is better. If you want to drive on scenic roads, I think you will like it when you go to the cities between Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Switzerland and Northern Romania. It's nice to drive huge trucks with beautiful scenery in ATS, but I think ETS is better for me since I'm used to ETS.

I have both and played both. One thing that you did not talk about is the actual roads and terrain. In ATS its mostly flat wide open roads while in ETS2 its lots of corners, tighter roads and mountain roads. I read some comments regarding highway...people get out of Germany/Austria/Italy and play in rest of Europe. As for the part about the cities, what you shown is more historical cities of europe and compared it to capitalist dreamland of skyscrapers. Many of ETS2 cities are on par or better then most of ATS cities...but yes depends on what you want, similar to roads.

Very much, for example, i love the Peterbilt 389 but during stormy nights i can't see the road and i find myself driving Volvo VNL again and again only because its the only truck with light bars

I mostly agree. However... ETS trucks have worse handling? No. They are *much* more agile, so it needs to be setup correctly especially if playing with keyboard. However with proper wheel + pedal setup it ain't that different really. Visibility on ETS trucks is *a lot* better though, but that's what you get with a proper truck that's a cabover. Oh, and ETS trucks have *POWER*. Like even the weakest ones are close to ATS's strongest ones (I think ATS's most powerful engine is the Cat's "King of the Hill" 625hp engine, where as Scania on Volvo both have 730/750hp engines on ETS). And the median on ATS is around ... 570, while on ETS even with the new daycab-version of DAF and limited power, is around 600'ish. Both are nice games. I've so far enjoyed ETS a lot more than ATS, but I do enjoy ATS as well \o7

ATS is newer, so it is obvious that the maps themselves are better than in ETS. It's true that mods change a lot, but initially ATS is much more interesting. However, once you install the mods, everything really becomes even in terms of quality. Generally speaking, it is not the case that this one is better than this one and that one is better than that one. Both are great if you like this kind of atmosphere. Personally, I prefer ATS because, firstly, I really like American trucks and, secondly, as a European, I don't want to drive on roads that I know from everyday driving. I love Utah, Nevada and Arizona and these are the views I want to look at. Hence, in my case, I chose ATS. Regards and width 🤚

You dont just download any old mod, there's also a risk a mod will break something that's why you do it at your own risk, go mod manager and untick all of them, try find which one that is breaking it

I think that the American trucks are fast because in the real world American trucks are allowed to drive 80MPH (120kph; most companies allow only 65mph internally ) and Euro Trucks can only drive 50mph (80kph)

@@MrRobin1991 no. In Germany you aren’t allowed to drive faster than 80 Kph /50mph, and I’ve worked on trucks. They are turned down at 85 kph. So I really don‘t even believe you with your „100kmh truck“

@@MrRobin1991 alright. You‘d have to say that he isn’t loaded. Without Trailer the normal speed limits for vehicles below 7,5 tonnes are applicable.

ETS2 runs better for me ATS has more freezing stuttering issues and ATS sceneries are mostly long stretches of dry grey land scapes , Euro is greener more tunnels better sceneries !

Hmm... #1 Price - 1st buy vanilla; try it out; if you like it then get all maps, as they are most important; invest in cargo & tuning packs; buy a G923 or T300 wheel and become addicted. #2 Game Trucks - ATS has less. It's a newer game. #3 World map - can't compare. #4 Game cities - ATS is better. #5 Gameplay - on a keyboard/with mouse/gamepag is one thing, but with a steering wheel is heaven. #6 Trailers - Chrome vs Paint. #7 Mods - In ATS you can almost completelly fill up the NA continent with less than 25 map mods. ETS2 has plenty more depending on Vanilla or ProMods type of maps. #8 Performance - ATS is the winner as it is more stable and reliable (newer engine). Conclusion - It does not matter which game you take, it matters what you are gunning for: MMO (no mods, but may require map DLCs) or Convoy action (with mods, 50/50% to require all DLC content).

I find ATS really doesn't need that many mods, I use probably 2 or 3 on ATS. One for engine sounds, more transmission options and on a separate profile I use an economy mod which makes the payouts a bit more realistic instead of getting 50 dollars per mile you get something like 3 or 4 dollars per mile at level 20. Not so much snowballing when it comes to money. My World of Trucks linked profile I have dozens of drivers and make something like 2.5 million dollars per week. Thing is starting out as a driver for hire police infractions are to be avoided like the plague.

European Trucks may have the horsepower, but they don't have the torque that American Trucks do. I started playing ETS2 when Mercedes was still Majestic. ATS when it was only Kenworth and Peterbuilt and Volvo was released not too long after. People just do not realize that with just the Pacific and states west of the Mississippi and Missouri rivers is larger than several European countries combined. But really Russia only consists of Kalingrad and a few cities around St. Petersburg. I prefer being able to go 65-80 mph rather that the meager 50-55 mph you get in most places in Europe. But both games are good. Also, ATS the best trailers are container carriers or refrigerated. Since in ATS refrigerated can be used for dry, chilled and frozen cargo as well as some ADR goods. ETS2 you cannot carry only chilled and frozen cargo in a refer.
