At about 23:20, you talk about Variant Visibility to the first option, which would be showing all variants as available for purchase, allowing one to accept any orders regardless of stock status? Why? Would it be so you can route the order to a different provider that does have the item in stock? Is it worth the possible headache?

Hi Mandy. I’m so happy to have found your channel. I really like how you explain everything and the information, help and advice you give is astounding! I have been binge watching your channel for most of the day. I started an Etsy shop several months ago and have a sub niche shop. I actually paid for another RU-vidr’s course (which I did find helpful) to get me started but after watching your videos I feel so much more comfortable with trusting you especially because you are not trying to get people to sign up for a course. I have a few questions if you do t mind. I’m not sure if this matters but I am also in Canada. 1. I was taught that even though I am in Canada, it’s ok to have your shop location in the US (I currently have mine set up this way) the reasoning is because your print provider is in the US and because the majority of your market will be in the US, what are your thoughts on this? Should I change it? Does it matter? Will my items show more to Canadians if I change it? 2. I am currently set up to ship everywhere. I am am thinking of changing this and only selling to Canada and USA. Would I just delete the profiles and make new ones? 3. Are you offering shop audits? I would love your feedback. How much do you charge for this? I’m sorry this is so long. A thousand thank you’s for answering my questions and for being such an awesome person. 😊

Thanks for spending the day with me! 😃 1) For shop location I’ve always used where I live personally. For me in MN I’ll quite often get local orders because I will show up when people filter by location and they like supporting a local small business. I do set my shipping profiles to accurately reflect where they’re shipping from though (so for example my SwiftPOD shirts will show as shipping from California, that way the estimated shipping time is accurate). I think I just like the idea of being honest about my shop location, but I think that’s totally a personal preference 🤓 2) For shipping profiles - yes, I prefer to set my own based on print providers and then I also only ship to the U.S. and Canada, so then I just make sure I don’t have any other countries listed in the shipping profiles. 3) I currently have had shop audits on pause while I focused on building the comprehensive course on here and worked on a few other projects. I’m hoping to open them up soon as part of a small membership community so that I can offer more direct support on an ongoing basis (while still being able to provide the knowledge-sharing here). I’ve gotten lots of requests for it, so definitely trying to make it happen for those who are wanting it! More to come on that soon! 🥰

As a business you can be exempt from the sales tax because it falls under reseller status in most states. Which means you don’t pay sales tax on your cost of materials, but your customer (in most states) will pay sales tax on their purchase from you which then gets remitted to the appropriate state. If you’re on Etsy they take care of collecting and remitting sales tax on your behalf, but if you are on a separate platform you would be responsible for that 😊

Hi Mandy, i have a question. If there are customer that feel my product is bad, maybe the designs , or the color, or anything else, and they want to return, so it become my loss, because i cannot return it to print probider? Am i correct?

It's in a tricky spot! You actually have to get to it from a desktop computer when you log into your account. On the left side under where your normal Etsy shop manager navigation is, go to the spot where it says Etsy and then your shop name and then click on the little pencil. This is where you can edit the look of your shop. Scroll all the way down past your listings, past the reviews, past the About, and you'll see the Frequently Asked Questions section where you can start adding to it. No idea why Etsy makes that so tucked away, but that's where it is! :)

If you decide to go with say, Monster Digital in stead of Swiftpod, do you have to set that print provider up as a choice too in your Etsy setup, and if you choose another provider down the road for another item, do you have to keep doing that? Or do you just leave the original one you set up in your Etsy setup and leave it at that? I'm confused on that part.

In theory you’re supposed to so that it’s accurate for the production partner, but most people just create one general Printify printing partner and leave it. Typically if I’m changing an entire partner I’ll just edit the existing partner profile instead of making a new one. Then the listings will update at the same time 😊

So I have a question, Etsy closed my shop after I opened it within two days. I filed an appeal and they told me it was permanently suspended, wouldn’t tell me why and did not respond to my emails after, like what the hell did I do?

How did you register as tax exempt? IN Maine you have to be a non profit.

As a business once you register with your state’s Dept of Revenue and get a business/tax ID you can then use that for a reseller’s certificate. This allows you to make business purchases without paying sales taxes. Every state’s process is a little different, but if you Google “reseller’s certificate for Maine” it’ll point you in the right direction 🤓

@@studiomdesignsco Mandy, what kind of purchases are we going to make for the POD where we will be using the reseller's certificate to not pay sales tax? I am in CA and from reading this comment, I just went to my state's site and it says I need a seller's permit in order to apply for a reseller's certificate because the first questions on the reseller's application is to input my seller's permit number. I only have an EIN. At what point do I need this? because I have no sales I am barely starting this POD business following your instructions:) Is there somewhere I can private message you for this or this channel is ok?

@TheGamersGuide819 You have to pay for shipping costs on the Printify side, but if your shop is connected the orders get automatically fulfilled. How are you creating shipping labels in Etsy for Printify items? I don’t recall if there’s a refund you can request in Etsy for labels that you create, you’d probably need to search the help area.

No - some people actually just us it to manually fulfill orders from elsewhere. You can also connect other type of platforms such as Shopify and other integrations :)

Hi Mandy, For Swiftpod's United States standard shipping service, Do you know which shipping service I should select if Etsy does not give me the option to select "other" for shipping service to set delivery time as 3-6 business day to give me the extra buffer in case anything happens. I set mine now to USPS Parcel Post (which is actually the new standard that the USPS switched to, Etsy just hasn’t updated the name). It uses a delivery window of 2-8 days, so it’s a good buffer option 😊
