In this video titled EU4 A to Z - I BECAME THE POPE As An INDIAN KINGDOM I play as Orissa in Europa Universalis 4 1.36 King of Kings. This is the series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Orissa and I attempt to become the Pope, or the curia controller. So, let's see if I managed to do it! I hope you guys enjoy this series. That would be awesome, but I think the reform to do that isn't till the age of absolutism. Maybe make an exception and trigger the event using console command.

In general owning Louisiana would be quite easy and the nuns is a waiting game without console commands. With commands it's just get Louisiana, which is very easy. Gotta make them painful >:)

Question - if you do a playthrough of a similar kind, where you basically snake towards your target, would it be worth trying to pick up some vassals along the way? Seems like a decent way of powering up without having to conquer and core too many provinces.

As Orleans you should get the historical borders of the Louisiana territory, release/sell all your European provinces, and make your capital new orleans.

As Orleans Trigger the retrial of Joan of Arc. Establising the sisterhood takes too long as you have to wait until absolutism. The retrial event however has to be completed before the age of reformation. You have to own Caux, Paris and Barrois. And England can't own any French provinces.

Great video, looked forward to Orissa for a while. Orissa is by far my favorite Indian nation. Kalipendra has a compelling back story, coming to power after he was an orphan adopted by the previous ruler then doing the same thing for his succession. Historically his kingdom punched above their weight, taking land from larger nations.

I was wondering if you could hoist the black flag as orissa. You would have to give up your vassals but you should be able to do that as long as you have less than 7 provinces and you can have coastal provinces only. Don't know if this would make the game easier or anything but it is something to try nevertheless.

I'd say either go Louisiana with your capital in New Orleans, but another idea is that since as Orissa you conquered the Pope and Orleans is a good catholic, you should take revenge by conquering all of Orissa's 1444 cores

I love such bizzare goals but this episode was surprisinly painless 😅 And great to see you play as Orissa. I have a soft spot for it because it was the first nation I've played in India. And they're almost never successful as AI, they usually get eaten by Bengal, Jaunpur or Bahmanis. I'm just a little disappointed that I didn't see a nice big orange name placement 😂 And I think their flag is one of the best in the game, pretty simple and symetric yet very original. Definitely up there together with Florence flag.

Is it cursed to play as Castille, have the provinces needed for a Muslim nation to form the Califate and convert to Sunnism after forming Spain? Or if it's even possible thanks to converting to Sunnism actually have the option to form the Califate as Spain?

In order to form Spain you can't be muslim and no muslim ruler can own provinces in Iberia (the provinces themselves can be muslim, just ruled by a country of non-muslim religion). So you'd have to form Spain first, then convert to sunni. Or culture switch to andalusian and form Andalusia instead.

As for the Caliphate, the wiki says that it can be formed by any muslim country, except for the Papal State, the Emperor of China and the Shogunate. I'm actually surprised to see that the Holy Roman Emperor isn't excluded.

@@SereglothIV That was my plan. Get all the provinces I want/need, form Spain, convert to Sunni and then form the Califate. Edit: Fixed my mistake in the first message.
