For Mori, you could start out as Ashikaga, console command annex Hosokawa, then release Mori, then release Hosokawa, and tag into Mori.

To get around Dali being impossible, you should do a multiplayer game where you and the boys are all Ming releasables!

For Mori you could annex the province with ashikaga(using the console) and then release them, i think that should solve the issue

If Dali is the new Germiyan, then you should run a special multiplayer episode with everyone playing as Chinese subjects vying for the mandate.

Horde Ideas imo are A or B tier. Though they are getting worse as Paradox buffs other nations idea sets.

Idk if you were able to do it here but another condition you can add is if your nation has cores from multiple countries at release date, you should reconquer all of them too.

Absolutely loving this series I’m happy I’m not the only one who enjoys playing releasable nations or obscure nations there’s just something to them.I personally converted to orthodox in my astrakhan run just felt like it was a better fit.

Successful Dali Strat I left this comment on the last video with the strategy I used to beat Ming as Dali, guessing you didn't see it, (or maybe it just didn't work lol), but just in case it helps I'll drop it again here. Yo I just did a successful Dali run, it took one restart and one or two alt F4s when I messed something up but honestly wasn't too bad. I got lucky on my second run with a 356 ruler, but I think it could work with a 4 or 5 in mil if you got a level 2 or 3 mil advisor instead of 1 like I did. Dali has a pretty decent economy to start so that's not a huge issue, and Ming makes a good piggy bank anyways. I just waited until Ming attacked Oirat (which they seemingly always do like 3 years in), then truce broke for the independence war. The main thing you want is a mil tech advantage, with the 6 mil ruler and focusing mil I got tech 4 by the time I declared. Ming was pretty scatterbrained the whole time, and as long as I overstacked the sieges (I started out with 8k+free company, then also hired Shanxi company for a 6 shock general later on) they rarely attacked my army. One big obstacle is that Dai Viet always enforces peace, and since they aren't at war with Oirat will focus exclusively on you. I immediately focused on sieging their capital once they intervened. This might take a bit of luck since there could be some siege racing. Also note that since their capital is a jungle you take crazy attrition and might need to recruit a couple more regiments or something to maintain the siege. After getting Dai Viet out for war reps I went back to sieging Ming forts, lost a battle, then just waited until I got mil tech 5 and then with the 6 shock general from the merc company and a 10% discipline advantage (5 from advisor 5 from neutral karma) it was pretty easy to melt Ming's armies. I peaced out once they would give me the gold mine and both centers of trade in Chengdu. Make sure to build a spy network on Ming day one for the siege ability, and to start one on Dai Viet right when you declare. Also I would advise not recruiting a general since mil tech is so important, instead rely on ruler generals and/or merc companies. Playing the long game until their mandate drops would probably be a more consistent strat, as with the Chinese kingdom government reform it's easy to keep liberty desire high. But I'm not that patient. Oh another helpful thing was getting the clergy privilege for morale of armies vs heretics and heathens, since you start as Buddhist.

With Dali I imagine a half decent strategy would be to try and get a tonne of ming devastation and apart from that fight on your mountain forts, maybe eeking out a white peace to delay annexation? It does seem like a very hard start, probably depends a lot on RNG on whether or not it's possible there. Alternatively you could change the rules for nations like the Ming where you can't really get any decently strong people to support your independence such that you could release one nation before the one you flip to? not sure how much more useful it would be, but it's something.

Easiest way to check government type is to look at the hat in the top bar. Monarchies get the crown, hordes get the gugu cap, theocracies get the Mitre, republics get the bicorne, and tribal non-horde get the headdress.

It would be a cool chalange to try to kill some huge enemy in the end. Like Muscovy. Or loose snd explode. Love your vids. Maybe other games in future?

For Dali, what if you were to console command them as an independent country? When you first started this series I knew the Ming vassals would be the hardest to do, and I even tried doing some of them myself just to see if there would be anything that you could try without using console commands and I couldn't get the games off the ground with the smaller ones.

You should bend the rules with the console to spawn Mori; as Ashikaga just annex the Mori province and then release it.

With the Japanese one, can you play as the overlord, then release the nation if you become Shogun? Or alternatively unify Japan and then release?

Hawk, to pop out Mori you can just use console commands, I'd vote on using the event to pop them out then tag switch with commands. The event for them to spawn is a daimyo event called "The Mori Clan" and it's ID is flavor_daimyo.3

it might be a bit of a rule break, but you can wait a bit until you release dali. You can then time it with the ming dinasty crisis disaster.

The most important thing to do first when you release this nation is to quickly conquer at least one province so that RU-vid doesn't flag your video due to the shape of your nation.

See I'm with Red Hawk on this one. I know Laith swears by hordes in EU4 but I've got no love for them at all. I prefer games where I can stop and listen to myself think long enough to make a plan and I'm just not skilled enough to juggle on the edge of the red line the way most hordes require.

man is it cheap to just take so many loans when realistically you wouldn't be fine with paying 12 ducats a month in interest just so you can grab colonialism and be done with the challenge. it's right up there with deleting all troops and going bankrupt as the overlord before releasing and playing as the releasable. it totally takes me out of the challenge personally and i don't like that format, feels like you're just doing it because you have to and not because you want to. don't force yourself, make good content and stick to it because you like it
