EUAN'S WORDS ON '145':
145 was written right at the very beginning of the first COVID lockdown - I was just starting back at Uni and had a lot of anxiety around why I was there, why anyone was there, and I felt a little strange about how these marks were determined by people that had simply done the same thing that I was done, but for a longer period of time.
I suppose '145' is essentially about struggling to be happy in a life that those around me were happy within. It's about the weird fear of failure mixed in with not wanting to be longing for success having never acted towards, and that fear making you feel utterly hopeless at times and like you're a little alone in the world.
The second half of the song is more about ways of dealing with that feeling and a wider sense of falseness in society, even in love and communication. With the final part of the song echoing the sentiment, "well - I'd really like to be happy to live and work and die, can we sign that contract now?".
