Your reviews are not only straight to the point and well-presented but also very detailed. I learn new things about the Eufy cameras every time I watch one of your reviews.
Eufy listens to its users and keeps evolving with new products. If they improve their software and app reliability it’s the best security camera in the market. Thanks LH another awesome review!
@@MYT2024compared to Reolink’s trackmix, it’s completely silent. If you actually watched the video, he shows how quiet it is. You can’t even hear it with the microphone in front of it.
I just got this camera. Seems to be full of software bugs. I set ambient lights to dusk to dawn. they turn off some point in the night. The camera tracking always first moves off the moving subject then back, missing the first vital 3-4 seconds? do you have any issues?
Glad they brought the blind spot detection to this camera too. It’s something that I don’t see other manufacturers doing and if someone like Reolink did it I would be over the moon.
This is a new thing for me - so normal tracking is when the camera sees someone in its current FOV & continues to follow them, but Blind Spot Detention means it’s always monitoring the L-F-R zones even when not looking in the direction of the two other zones? That’s pretty good.
@@TheEthNick Yeah that’s correct. The previous spotlight cam 2 pro was able to monitor behind as well. It’s a super cool feature when putting them under eaves at the corner of a house so you get a lot of coverage with just 1 camera.
At the point in the video when you checked the operating noise of the swivel motion of the camera, you earned my subscription. This is an exceptional and detailed review. Well done.
Agreed, however, I was hoping to hear something. My friend and I got kicked out of RadioShack in the 80s because we were testing all the cassette door sounds. We were looking for the ones that had the best "roboty" sound. The floor person walked over to use and asked: "are you having fun?" 🤣🤣
There shouldn’t be much criticism from anyone about this one! It sounds / looks like a Reolink Trackmix without all of the noise, and with better audio quality. Seems like a winner for Eufy IMO.
Great review as always. Never understood why previous eufy floodlight cams didn't offer 24/7 recording considering it had direct power, maybe hardware or software limitations. This definitely looks like a great product had I not already upgraded to LED floodlights and installed the outdoor cam pro 2k (c24)
I have the older flood light pro cam. It survived a super typhoon with sustained wind speed around 160 mph and gusts up towards 200mph. Now i want one of these to replace all my reolink that didnt survive
You get hundreds of comments so I doubt you remember me but I have been waiting for a flood light camera for awhile and I keep coming back to your channel because you are by far the best reviewer. I was digging some of the ones you posted but I really wanted the flood light combo with the camera, I am so excited to find this one - it's even on sale for cyber monday. This is exactly what I needed, I really didn't think Eufy would have something like this, I already have the doorbell so this is a great addition. Thank you for all the effort you put into this, I'm finally going to get a good replacement.
This video only records in 1080 and it’s a 3K camera! It also has soft yellow lights that are 2000 lumens…. The lights are garbage because high winds made be the flood lights around and you always have to adjust them. The higher model has 3 flood lights but the camera is only 2k not 3K like this model…. I returned mine because of the poor quality 1080 recording coming from a 3K duel camera and the flood lights move from wind… they definitely need to upgrade the products big time!
I just realize it’s kind of hard to find a hard drive for the homebase that is 2.5 inches the best I can find is 5 TB Seagate hard drive do you have any recommendations?
Hey LH sorry to hassle you again but I found another bug with the E340 and I was wondering if you could confirm it. In the light settings menu there's a brightness setting for "Ambient light" and one for "Manual light". Whenever I set a brightness for the ambient light while the customized schedule is active, it only takes effect for a few seconds, then the brightness reverts to what is set under "Manual light".
Issue I have with floodlight cameras is that the LEDs wash out the face of the person being recorded making identification/use-ability harder or impossible.
Which one should i by for out front of my garage, This E340 or the WYZE 3000 camera pro? I will be using the flood light camera only. no other additional items. I will use a micro SD card.
@@LifeHackster i did that initially but I noticed that when a car is approaching my house it doesn’t trigger it . Only when I do all other motion it’s triggered by vehicles . Seems like vehicles is hit or miss so I left all other motion on
I loved that part too! But what if there is a bunker down there?... LH would definitely have plenty of spatial awareness to get in there quickly! Seriously though, I'm now considering this over the Wyze floodlight pro. Extra $70 worth it?
Fantastic video on the new E340. You are the best by far at your reviews. Because of you, I have purchased 16 various Eufy cameras and will be buying several more of this new model. Thumbs up and keep up the good work.
Just ripped out all my ring cameras and reinstalled my eufy cameras. This was one I purchased and installed in my backyard, so far it’s been great! Was curious how it’s held up for you over the last several months being exposed to elements?
Bought this camera but having issues with it. It will activate when it see's a car go by on my street which is 100 feet Away. I even set a activation area which doesn't include the street but it still activates and records. Yet it won't recognize my wife's car pulling out of the garage in clear view and only 10 feet away? It never does activate as she pulls out of the driveway and goes down the street?
I had two S330 break down within a 2 year period. Also many misses while recording, for instance after two minutes, the max recording time, it would stop recording and pick up much later. So missing a lot of the action. Picture quality also was not too good, although I now have the E340 on a Homebase 3 and that also doesn’t utilise the full quality. Eufy tends to be a bit deceiving on this part and very slow to fix. Also when setup to he HB3, thw continuous recording option in the menu disappears. It records 24/7 whether you want it or not.
I love the new E340 but i wish Eufy would bring back the clip length feature where you can control the length of the recording from 30 seconds to 2 minutes….i noticed that i missed a lot of footage because when the motion stops the recording stops also…….
@@LifeHackster I bought an E340 + HB3 and tested it, still limited to 1920x2160. Could you please push Eufy to optimize their HB3 video resolutions? It's false advertising.
Now, you just opened the Pandora Box for me... I did connect my solocam S340 and also the indoor cam S350 (24/7 recording) and they are also not recording in full resolution. The indoor cam is only 1080P.. I have contacted Eufy and I will do more testing on their other cams connected to the Hb3 and will do a video on this...@@CanuckTech
@@LifeHackster Thank you for confirming my experience. I also have an S350 and it's recording @ 1920x1080 in single view mode when connected to HB3, which is a quarter of the advertised 4K. It gets worse in dual view mode: 1280x1440.... which makes no sense because the E340 can at least do 1920x2160 in dual view. Also, I think you reviewed the E330 kit and it can record full @ 4K on the HB3? So clearly the hardware is capable of 4K recordings...
I have the floodlight pro 2 which seems basically the same as this expect with one lens. I don’t understand why that doesn’t have continuous recording but this does.
Great video! Just got mine. It detects passing vehicles great in daytime but rarely at nighttime. I’ve reset it etc and still same. Any recommendations? I’m about to call Eufy might be defective
I installed the camera, but I did not connect the grounding cable because there is no grounding cable in the connection point. The resolution is constantly decreasing. Does grounding cause this? My internet speed is 50 MB. I have other eufycam cameras and they do not have such a problem.
excellent review. I have several Eufy cams already, but i had some questions about the install options on this one. You answered all my q's. I think this cam will work for me.
Great video. Can you compare eufy floodlight cam 2 pro vs e340 flood light e340. I'm thinking of upgrading Flood cam, 2 pro. Will my home base 2 Work with e340?
I was very curious about this camera compared to the Eufy floodlight cam 2 pro. Looks like it has one less light bar, but it did ditch the plastic dome around the camera. Looking forward to the comparison to the cam 2 pro.
I think it would be helpful if your videos added a section about whether or not the camera supports RTSP, and if that mode supports continuous or event only recording. Many Eufy cameras do support it but many also don't and it's not very clear from their website.
This Eufy model really looks to check all the boxes for me. One question I have is does the eufy app view allow you to see the live view of all cameras (like Wyze does) or do you have to select each camera? I have only one Eufy camera and multiple Wyze and that one feature allowing you to get an live overview of all cams is the one thing keeping my Wyze connected. 😁
@@LifeHackster Oh that's unfortunate if they don't have or plan to incorporate this into the app. Seems like an oversight to not update the app with this feature and only include multi-view into another proprietary device... Who's going to leave their house with that? 🤦🏼♂️
for the colored night vision (spot lights on), are they always on, or just turn on when motion is detected? I dont want 2k lumen light shining all the time but cant stand the image quality of IR night vision. Thanks!
You can set it in a schedule or dusk to dawn…like in a lower intensity then when it detects motion, it will go full brightness..or just set it to full brightness in a schedule.
I got a lot of false indication. Even a large black square garbage bin doing nothing giving me a lot push notification that a human has been detected. Also a vacuum cleaner is seen as human. I already set the sensibility to its lowest. Also when sd card is full on 24hr recording it can not formatted. I had to get the sd card out to format it on the pc. And then I couldn t get connected till the next morning.
Sorry to hear that. Its AI is based on shape. Try using motion zones to avoid the garbage bin. As to the SD card, it will loop record meaning it will automatically erase and record over older footage so you really don't need to format it.
Based on your reviews I purchased the Eufy S340 solar for the front of the house and looking at this one for the rear. Would you recommend this one for the front as well instead of the solar? Just curious on your recommendation. Great video reviews of all the products. Glad I found your channel. Hope to hear from you soon.
Just had this installed. How do I reduce notifications so I don’t get notified of every car driving car . I would like to be notified only if car/someone enters the driveway. I reduced the detection range and motion sensitivity to the least and it still catches every drive by. Thanks
Fantastic. This is the one I’ve been waiting for. & it seems like a worthwhile investment for my main front porch camera. Does the feature-set change between the SD card & HB3 storage? I only have a HB2, so it looks like I’ll need to also grab a 128GB SD card for the time being. But do you think Eufy will add HB2 support for this camera? Or on the other hand, do you think Eufy will add HB3 support for older (2 Pro) cameras? It would be ideal if I only needed one HB for all my cameras. Thanks again for a detailed review. This one should sell well! I notice it’s cheaper than the model it replaces, which makes it great value.
As to storage, you can only choose one. It cannot record to both the SD card and the HB3. It is more likely that Eufy will focus on the integration of all their cameras to the HB3 than their older HB2.
Hi, LifeHackster I just insatll mine a week ago, there some small problem i encounter with this floor light. i turn on the sunset to sunrise function on with less than 50% light and i turn on when motion detect at night it turn on 100% of light but the camera detect motion start record but most of the time no turn on 100% light output. thanks
Currently, I have a Eufy Floodlight 2 Pro. After seeing demonstrations of the latest Wyze floodlight camera, my honest opinion is that tracking cameras are over-rated. A FOV is preferable to a tracking camera, especially in a surveillance area that's pretty flat image. Motion tracking cameras could move erratically like a bobbing duck or chicken.
Thanks yet again for a very informative video. I have the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro and have not been impressed with the motion detection at night, floodlight and camera. It is very poor actually and I have everything set correctly. I see that this baby has a wide PIR motion sensor so maybe they acknowledged the issue and this will fix it....also no lens cover, interesting. Think I'll get it though thanks to your video and cross my fingers that the night detection is more reliable. I also wonder if you can set a different activity zone for the floodlight and another for the camera?
so a criminal can foil this camera by having it track the first person it sees, ignoring the second person. lol from your video title, at first thought dual camera tracking meant two separate cameras to track different areas of the same location.
The older 2k floodlight cam’s light sensor was too sensitive and would not activate the flood lights at night when pulling a car into the driveway with the headlights on. Does the e340 have this same issue?
So i have two of these and the recording is not clear as i want it to be ,i have it at 3k resolution you mentioned it's recording at 1080p is that a problem from the camera or software update?
The plastic mount looks like it will break easy if screwed in too tight or the plastic becoming brittle when exposed to sunlight or the elements. I had a plastic junction box and switched to metal with my ring floodlight as the plastic one broke. No issues with the metal one and I think the ring is made of metal itself.
Got this cam over the weekend in many ways thanks to these videos ...I be honest, very disappointed ... it detects only things that are in the center of the default view. The our of view feature, does nothing. . Have you tested it? it does really nothing. This is a very sophisticated camera but at the moment, the 360 is good only for AI tracking i.e its gets into action only after something was detected in the main default view. I dont understand why they have 3 regions of with with active zone if it looks only at the default view. there is no way for me to know if this is me or the camera as there is no test modes..... the only mode for out of view, does not seems to work at all. (no beeps and red flashing light)
Yes, this floodlight cam is still in my front garage area. Out of view detection works good. You have to turn it on in the detection range option and adjust the sensitivity of the 3 PIR sensors.
Got it to work but it gives far too many false positive. It looks like the out of sight, does not respect the activity zone. that is to say, if it detect something, it will turn the cemera toward that direction (as it should) but then, ignores the "active zone" resulting in false positive rending the out of sight as useless. btw, even on the very low sensitivity/distance, it picks things across the cul-de- sak,@@LifeHackster I will get the Homebase unit and see if it becomes smarter or not...
Love your work. Question I have, could one have this record continuously on both an sd card and the home base. My concern, if the camera loses Wi-Fi contact, one could still pull from the card. Thanks.
Can it pan all the way down like the floodlight cam 2? Also, can you set it so that the flood lights only go when dark AND when it detects motion? So the lights don’t trigger for example during the day when it detects motion.
Good review!, I would like to buy it with the Homebase 3. Do you think is possible to use a PoE splitter (like linovision) to connect the e340 directly to ethernet port, not to be dependent only to wifi?
Hello, I really enjoy watching your reviews. I won't be using a junction box. Do you have a link to the a/c wiring you used to plugin to the outlet? Thank you.
In the video, I used the one from Ring's Floodlight Cam Plug in Kit but you can use the one from this video -> ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Jx0M5kPzh9w.htmlsi=OD62EFp5_U3UlpYL
@@superduperboyx yeah it was under covering no water ever reached it. I thought it was maybe an electrical issue but I plugged it to usb outlet and never came on so camera stopped working for me
So after watching your video's I decided to buy 6 - 340 Eufy flood light cameras. Now I haven't yet purchased the wiring which I'm gonna do. I wanted to wait till I got the cameras. Now that I have them.. my question is.. which micro SD card would you recommend I buy? and will it record in the meantime while I'm waiting on the wiring to arrive? In research I found that the "class 10 high-quality microSD card 256 are better? I'm gonna attempt to do the wiring myself but if I run into an issue... I'm gonna have to call someone to help. Your video's are the best. Ty in advance.
Excuse me, my power source for the camera is 5V DC, how can i get it to work without having to have a 220v AC power source? Cuz it comes from a battery bank that supply all my cameras with 5V DC BTW I don't need the flood lights to work only the camera itself.
I have two questions; 1- during the 24/7 mode, will the light be on all night? Will it record cold or B&W at night? 2- does the camera support SMTP? I want use it in “Home Assistant “ using “SCRYPTED”
Eufy know that recording from the E340 is in 1080p only and I have been told that they have no plans for changing that. Kind of disappointing when you have a 16TB drive in the Homebase 3. Also recording to the MicroSD card is also not full resolution
Feed electrical wire from hole in back in Eufy's junction box. Do not feed it through like in the video...that leaves the power wire exposed...and easily cut by a malicious individual. Stay safe ;D.
I have the Eufy 2K floodlight camera. Where it fails is if you walk just below it from left to right, it's too slow to follow. Has Eufy fixed the 2 way communication with this floodlight or new cameras?? There was always a 3-5 delay where when you talk, you wouldnt be able to hear the other person. Has Eufy fixed these issues yet??
Hello, I always get information from your channel. it is well explained. I have a question about this product. 24/7 continuous recording required Homebase 3 or MicroSD 128 GB will work without Homebase3 ? Thank you
Been looking to upgrade my current ring camera system, I’ve watched a lot of your videos trying to decide which is the best system (hard wired) that would work for me. I need a floodlight in the backyard and the front yard. And 2 on the sides of the house as well. Do you have any recommendations? I’m looking for motion detection, clear video quality and maybe AI tracking , hope to hear a response !
Thank you for the detailed review! I’m torn about this one… and eufy in general. I currently have the older 2k model and the video quality has been outstanding. Unfortunately, it’s very unreliable on what it chooses to record. It definitely picks up on motion and notifies me every time, but only about half of the detected events get saved. So if I don’t click the notification, and one minute later (or five hours or whatever) go to the events, there is nothing there from that time. It will record some events every day, just not all which is a big issue.
Sorry to hear about recording issues..there is definitely an issue with the camera or the homebase if the detected events are not recorded. This one though has 24/7 recording..so it should record everything even the non detected events.
