Ysaÿe is the king, definitely look him up. Very underrated and unknown outside of violinist circles. Also, check out this sonata recorded by Kogan and Giles.

Thanks for posting this! (Note: everyone knows it's impossible to invert a 9th chord-in closed position and prohibiting diatonic clusters)

Great piece and really explores what you can do with two violins. Love the fugato at 5:48.

@@brianwalls5165 do u mean double stops
@bunibuns8901
@bunibuns8901 10 дней назад
@@brianwalls5165a chord means there are multiple notes played at the same time, for example open G, open D and Bflat played at once. For the string instruments like violin, two note chord is also called double stop, three note chord is called triple stop, and four note chord is called quadruple stop. In the violin music, if there are two lines moving in one violin part, it is called polyphony (literally translated to "many voices"). This might also be what you're talking about. The difference between chords and polyphonic lines is in chords, the notes aren't changing. For example, in the chord with open G, open D, and Bflat, if you change any of those notes, the chord becomes a different chord. In polyphonic lines, the notes are changing constantly. The notes can have different duration too, like if one note in the top voice is held for two beats, but there are two notes in the bottom voice held for one beat each. Musical phrases that use polyphony usually end with the two voices lining up to create a chord, either to end the phrase or continue it longer!

on IMSLP there is the manuscript. Ysaye's manuscripts are very legible, though, you can copy it down on your own staff paper to read it better
