If you notice, when Archie is standing on Eugene's hand, he's a little lowered (bottom closer to the surface he's standing on) that's the equivalent of a bird sitting down, so it means Archie is comfortable around Eugene :)

My baby is adorable! To me. I have no idea how others see her but evolution has tricked my husband and I into thinking she's the cutest thing in the world. I learned this when my cousin had a child and was cooing about how adorable she was and internally I was like "sir that is an elderly man who stepped into a shrink ray".

He’s so respectful of the owl, asking the trainer how to make him the most comfortable and what not to do around him. And he’s just as mesmerized by cool birds as I am lol!! I would love to hold an owl one day!

More owl facts! -the technical term for an owl's ear tufts is "plumicorn" -the thing Archie is doing where he flutters his throat like a bullfrog is called gular fluttering. it's how owls cool themselves off, like a dog panting. all the lights would probably make all those feathers pretty warm! -eurasian eagle owls are among the largest owl species in the world. females are larger than males. -owls live on every continent except antarctica. -some extinct owl species were more than a meter (~3ft) in height!

additional fact that I just have to share, in german the name for the eurasian eagle owl is "Uhu" and honestly, I have rarely seen a name fit the thing its naming that much

The genuine joy Eugene has when interacting with these animals, and most animals in general, just makes me really happy. You can tell he's having a lot of fun whenever he gets to interact with animals

So I grew up in the Midwest and I see owls a lot especially when in winter I get to see the white snowy owls. And I think they're so beautiful and Majestic like Eugene said. However I didn't realize that my relatives for many years had talked about how tecolote were evil. And for many years I just thought it was some random animal until recently when I went in my twenties to Mexico I found out how it was the owl they were talking about!! Which is crazy to me that in a different culture owls are seen in a bad light. So much so that a lot of people don't even like to see them and walk away because they don't want to be near an owl. Yeah but I'll love them 2x as much to make up for the hate they get. Also I totally made the connection to Archimedes the second Eugene asked if Archie was named after the owl 💕

I absolutely adore animals. I went through many career ideas growing up based around animals. I wanted to be a vet, then found out zoologists deal with all animals, but then when I got to high school I realized the job market might not be too high with just zoology so I'm now majoring in Marine biology! The ocean is incredible, mysterious, and quite the scientific wonder and I love it!

I LOVE owls and I just taught my 1st grade students how to make owls out of air dry clay! We started with some owl facts and the kids knew a ton and were so jazzed. The projects are turning out really cute!

She should have had Eugene hold his jesses under his thumb so he'd have more control. Obviously Archie is pretty chill, but a Eurasian Eagle Owl is extremely powerful in it's talons and could cause some serious harm to Eugene.
