I grew up in Eugene/Springfield in the 80s. Went to Springfield High, GO MILLERS, and Sheldon High, Go Irish! Lol. I miss it so bad. I've lived all over America, from Oregon to New York, Wyoming to southern Louisiana, and my favorite place still is, and always will be, Springfield! I watched them move the historical train station to the location it is in now as well. It was awesome to see it travelling down the road, the wrong way...lol

Been living in Spfd now for about 8 years. I have to say that Springfield is much better than it used to be. Eugene is catching up to Portland in going socially backwards. High rent, low street maintenance (come on UofO...help pay for your students usage of the roads), nowhere to pee (especially bad for us senior men in particular, sorry ladies), and smelly restaurant surroundings. Eugene downtown doesn't seem to understand that the smell around the restaurants greasy garbage bins pervading the entire block isn't appetizing (not bad in Spfd though). I have been physically attacked in Eugene, by a crazy young person who looked normal. Police didn't have time to come. And then on the other hand, I have been aggressively stopped by Springfield police coming home from my swingshift job on my bicycle for a couple of years before I retired, told to sit down on the wet pavement at 1o'clock in the morning. I would rather take my chances with the Spfd. Police than the crazies on the Eugene streets though. But if you ride a bicycle for your main transportation, Springfield folks for the most part seem to hate me for no reason. They honk at me while in the bike lane, or crosswalks. I am not a crazy radical, just a man who has chosen to dramatically decrease my carbon footprint. I stopped driving about 7 years ago, and have really found out how nasty human beings can be when they think they are being delayed for 10 seconds. So....Eugene actually sucks and so does Springfield...just not as much as there are much fewer people and less concentrated living areas. Welcome to the Future Springfield. You are right about Eugene, but I've never had issues with people in Springfield compared to Eugene. Springfield is doing a lot to upgrade their downtown area and clean up the streets. Eugene on the other hand 🤔
@@jamiesmtns I honestly hope for good from folks as I try to give the same, but if you tried to ride a bicycle just for one week as your main source of transportation, you will soon find out the true nasty thread that seems to pervade. People here honk at you while you WALK across the clearly marked CROSSWALK. So, just sayin' a truth here, if you get out of your car and walk or ride a bike you will see the true nature of folks here. SAD.😥😶😎
@@saxmidiman I just came back from DC and Springfield people are a bunch of angels compared. Let's ride a bike in Portland, San Francisco , LA or New York City. I'm just saying we have it really nice here in Springfield. It could be so much worse!
@@jamiesmtns Been there, Done that! You are totally correct. At my age (retired) it's easy to focus on the bad. I completely appreciate the GOOD folks in Springfield, I do have good neighbors and I really do try to pass a smile along to someone who I think might really need it. So to those in such a rush, please have patience with your fellow humans and realize that a 10 second delay in your day could be so much nicer if you DIDN'T honk and frown and passed that SMILE back to me. Hi Nancy! There are a few 55+ parks in the Springfield area, also we have the YMCA and Willamalane Adult Activities center. Plus there are a ton of walking paths and trails.
How is the condominium situation in Springfield? I mean basically an apartment with someone living above or below. Also townhome is a possibility as long as there is no back yard.
Hi Yasmin, here are a couple quick numbers from last week in Springfield. The medium sales price for a condo in Springfield is $259,250. Number of condo's on market last week were only 2. Average days on market are 88. There are Townhome rentals and they are averaging $1350 a month.

We love Springfield, it's a beautiful small town with a vibrant downtown and some pretty awesome neighborhoods. I would be happy to show anyone moving to Springfield the best and the worst and I can guaranty there's more good than bad. 😀🐕🦺🐎🍻🍷🏠🏡
