This segment from the “What’s in a Name, Part 4” episode of the series “Lost Louisiana” from March 15, 2007, features Charlie Whinham’s visit to Eunice in St. Landry Parish, the Prairie Cajun Capital of Louisiana. He talks to Georgie Manuel, the Director of the Eunice Depot Museum, about the founding of the city by C.C. Duson and the city taking its name from his second wife, Eunice Pharr Duson. He also visits the Cajun Music Hall of Fame and Museum and speaks to Cajun musician and accordion maker Larry Miller about the founding of the museum by the Cajun French Music Association, its importance in preserving Cajun music, and teaching his grandson how to make accordions. Lastly, Whinham visits the Liberty Theater and talks to Charles Seale about the theater’s restoration, its history, the theater’s original Player piano, and the recording of the “Rendez-vous des Cajuns” radio show every Saturday night at the theater.

My uncle has lived in Eunice for over 40 years. He married his late wife, and moved from New Orleans to Eunice, many of us did not think he'd stay for long, but he's still there, 42 years late, and looks like he's there to stay.

Sally McGee played the piano for the Silent Movies at the Liberty Theater for years. She played by ear and loved it.❤

I grew up in Eunice. Best Marine was a noteable business there we were interveiwed by the editor of the Eunice News Matt Vernon. Why?? Because if you had a boat you knew Frankie Best. The family were familiar with everyone in local government. Frankie a boat racer& motorcycle racer as was l. My brother is in the CMHOF. Johnny Beat , who is the only member of our immediate family who still lives down there. Sisters in Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
