Alexa, the actress who plays Maddy, was asked if she could switch characters with this season she said Lexi. She said she can’t give anything away but she loved her in this season. I’m hoping that means she starts finding herself and confidence. Which would make it more likely for her to go for Fez unlike how she usually plays everything safe.

idk why people are angry that nate/cal is a focus of this season,, did people think that after maddy got hold of the tapes that they'd just drop it?? it was so obvious that the plot line would emerge this season again and tbfh it is needed" also people saying jules is a back character this season clearly do not realise that most of the plots are surrounding her. Rue with her struggles, elliots whole introduction is about tension w jules and rue, nates entire character has jules at the centre, the cal/nate plot, Jules is at the centre of so many plots whether you realise it or not.

Also I think either Cassie is up to something or she is learning not to care anymore about her and Nate because she realizes it’s not good for her…she might become heartless. Sorry if this is a major reach, but what if the person who dies is Ali? Judging from episode 3, Rue acted cold towards him the last time they talked and I could see how the show could make that scene hurt more if they made it tragic like that. People who are all bout how Nate is in love with Cassie, just know that : he isn’t. Nate is in love with selfishness, revenge, power, ego and abuse. The only time he turned on Cassie last episode was when she was dressed as Maddie. Even Fez said he was into Jules. He loved Maddie, maybe not anymore ( now he just wants the tapes), he clearly has some unresolved feelings for Jules in full denial, maybe because of his dad, maybe because she is trans, probably both. But he does not love Cassie, he loves her body, and her easiness, but trust me there is no disrespect in love, not like this. It’s not because your are f*cking someone that you love them.

I love Jules but it’s like anytime Rue finds her little bit of happiness in a new friend Jules ruins it out of jealousy. Everyone is side eyeing Cassie but I’m not letting up on the Jules at all. You left Rue, then just appear back in town see Rue with a new friend gets upset, interrogates him, then flirts with him. Like Geez. I get they’re in high school so dumb decisions are made but gahdamn.

@@layton6202 that’s literally what’s been going on, Nate and Cassie met every week just like how her father would visit each weekend but now Nate stood her up just like her father started doing after a while. This show has been painting parallels between its characters throughout it’s start wouldn’t be a “reach” to think two of the characters Cassie depends on for validation are similar in ways.

just a theory: i have a feeling that funeral isn’t of someone close to rue, bc the audience seem to uncharacteristically active rather than silent and mournful, which is possibly a play by of a turning point for rue? i’m no expert when it comes to church funerals, but this seems far too dramatised to be one. you can also see elliot and jules on the left, she might just be imagining this. and the man she’s hugging, i’m almost sure that’s labrinth’s cameo (this is more of a wild speculation) looking forward to episode 4!

I think I’m missing something? What made you guys think that it’s a funeral of someone close to Rue? I think it’s just Rue having a “becoming a believer” moment. In her last argument with Ali she mentioned how she’s not trying to find God, Allah or whoever else Ali wanted her to believe in. So that could easily be one of those moments where she does.. Don’t think it’s a funeral because there’s no one else in the crowd but Elliot & Jules, plus they’re sitting far from the front.. where’s everyone else at that would be there to support her?

cal knows rue, juels or fez doesnt have the tape and knows that nate lied about them having it, so my guess is that cal threatened nate (maybe about cassie) to get the tape back (which he probably knows Maddie took), hence the flowers to maddie trying to get close with her again so he can get the tape back

It's...a lot deeper than that. I don't wanna sound pretentious here but this show does a really great job of adding depth to those usual tropes. With Maddy/Nate/Cassie, it's about the different levels of power, toxicity, and abuse in a relationship. With Jules/Rue/Elliot, we have Elliot being more of a mirror looking back at Jules & Rue's relationship and their own issues. To chalk it up to just a couple of simple love triangles isn't really giving the show any credit
