The Ziyadullo Shahidi International Foundation in partnership with OSCE provided a round table on 26 January, 2013 under the title: 'Eurasian identity: problems and perspectives'. The aim of the round table was to promote emerging Eurasian space in Tajikistan and CA, as a regional unit, creating the floor for the specialists of different scholarly fields and actors of culture/art to discuss the problems of political, economical and cultural integration of Tajikistan within the nowadays CA and EU relations. The round table has outlined two main dimensions:
1. Re-thinking of the scholarly experience of the country of the second half of the last century, when the ways of interconnection and interpenetration of the cultural values of CA and Europe were identified, though still not known for the world contemporary Eurasian studies. That ignorance makes a gap between diversity of academic schools of East and West.
2. Bridging the gap between academic schools and universities inside and outside of the multilingual, multicultural region as well as expanding the culture of sharing knowledge and human factor within Eurasian space, as a whole.
The meeting has been launched by the short speech of dr. Munira Shahidi, the chairman of the Foundation and a chief-editor of the j. 'Fonus'. She invited participants for the open and lively discussions with the further crucial proposals. Ambassador of OSCE mr. Ivar Vikki outlined the role of the scholars and intellectuals in actualizing the policy of OSCE for security, cooperation and development of Tajikistan, CA and Eurasia. Professor of Cambridge University Siddharth Saxena, attracting attention of the participants for the deep roots of modern technologies here, in CA, informed about new perspectives of collaboration between academics and universities of Tajikistan and Cambridge University. These proposals have been taken up lively by the director of the Physic-Technical Institution of AS of Tajikistan, prof. Muminov and deputy rector of the National University, professor Karimov. Speakers, as well as discussants, prof. Mukhtorov, Atoev, Dr.Rashid Gani Andullo, prof. Nizomov, prof. Olimov identified important aspects of cooperation and activity of Tajik scholars within Eurasian space.
This final friendly discussion at the Z.Shahidi Museum of Musical Culture, is in response to recommendations to make these discussions available for all who are interested in Eurasian studies.
