Posing just only the opening and closing since I don't have the whole episode of this great children show, which I didn't know this would be taken down many times. Anyway, Enjoy!
its amazing how every sound and word is burned into your memory even if its been several years since you have seen or heard it. #childhoodmemories #nostalgia
I sing "It's dinnerrrr tiiiiiiiime....at Eureeekaaa's caaastlllle..." to my dog every evening at dinner time...and hadn't seen or heard the actual song in at least 20 years. LOL!!! I finally decided to sit down and look it up on RU-vid for old time's sake.
Haven't watched or thought about this show in at least 20 years, and as soon as I heard the singing "Eu-ree-kaaaaa" my brain suddenly just clicked and I remembered the remainder of the song, the characters, the room I would watch it in, etc. It's amazing, really. The memories you have stored in your brain that you didn't even know where there.
Eureka instilled the last great generation of survivors in all of our brains.. go out in the woods and see what happens when you come back 2 weeks later, you’ll be 10 lbs heavier
Gakusangi, I would have to agree, because I remember watching this show when it was on old Nickelodeon, I also remember I used to have the puppets too, god I wish this was on a DVD box set, because Kids today don't even know what good shows are, all that's on is SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS, MICKEY MOUSE CLUBHOUSE, ETC, ETC, ETC.
Janie Doe I really wish people would just get over Spongebob, I can't stand that show and I don't see any benefit to kids watching it. Shows back when I grew up were entertaining but also TAUGHT things -_-
As an '80s kid, I cried a little watching this. Not so much for nostalgic reasons, but for the fact that if these shows, or shows like them were still around, the world might not be such a bad place. Growing up in a severely dysfunctional family, I really didn't have any real positive support/stimulation, so I learned a LOT of stuff from watching shows like this. Both intellectual and emotional. Most of the crap shown nowadays is why I think there are so many stupid people (teenagers/kids) running around.
Dennis Thompson agreed. God, my heart at first feels warm and giddy then I feel a cold sadness wishing I were a child again. TV for kids is nothing like it used to be.
Dennis Thompson yeah bro you had the same exact feelings I have damn exact same kind I learned so much from my cartoons we all did those of us growing up in the eighties and early nineties unlike these garbage unthoughtful pointless cartoons that plum stupid ignorant lame shit they have today they can't hold a fart to this stuff
youd be suprised what reaching out to there facebook pages can do i got mr rodgers back on my local pbs and if you call some of them listen even more call the bigger pbs in your state sometimes the'll put it back on.
These shows were made with love and creativity. It's kinda like old video games. Programmers were masters of their craft. Assembly language, digital art, story telling, music... Indie today tries, but can't get it right. Todays shows are nothing but a political agenda. Can't call it nostalgia glasses because the last show I enjoyed on tv was chowder and I look forward to The Raccoons reboot. The Raccoons literally dodged the bullet by rejecting cal arts style. But for the most part, 90% of modern shows are terrible.
I'm a grown ass man and I cry everytime I see this video. It takes me back to a more happier time in my life. I was in the first grade, we still had the house we grew up in, my father was alive and still married to my mother. I love this show like no other, but it hurts like hell to see it.
I remember being 2 in 1992, watching this only for the intro and outro music. At 17 in early 2008, I daydreamed of having Eureeka ride with me in leather on my Harley-Davidson motorcycle with Eureeka driving and me behind her. X3 (yeah, it's taking me a while to grow up XD) -sigh-Even though I'm straight in every way, I have always loved cute castles and pretty dragons like Spyro, yet I'm a wild leather-wearing biker with my own Harley biker group. I'd never tell this to any of my members, but I'm a boy with girl tastes.
omg this brought me waaaaaay back. I remember the intro like it was yesterday. I can't believe I am as almost old as this show. it first aired around 1989. I used to imitate the bat. "I meant to do that!" I remember one where he broke his glasses and he wanted them fixed, but Eureka kept getting it messed up. "Not grasses, GLASSES!" "Not Lassies, GLASSES!"
I really wondered why this show stayed in my memory sooooooo long? It has to be that theme song! I could listen to that all day. I barely even remember the show, but I love the theme and Eureeka is such a cool character.
I LOVED this show when I was 3, 4, and 5. GOD its SO good to be able to see this again. I remember being so fascinated by the stone fish, the little mice cracked me up, the multi-colored slugs in the end song ALWAYS had me SO fascinated. LOVE this show. I really wish this would come back on the air for my nieces and nephews. I am 21 now and I would truly enjoy watching this with my nephew. :)
First time i saw this show on Nick Jr, i was amazed; not only was it fun, but the puppeteering was of Jim Henson quality. The characters were interesting and funny, and the shorts were clever. And the beginning and end song...i swear, it was hilarious. It was this, The World of David the Gnome, the Little Koala, the Noozles....Good times, *gooooood times*
Shenruss, I would have to agree with you, because this, The World Of David The Gnome, The Little Koala, The Noozles, Maya The Bee, Grim's Fairy Tale Classics, is my all time Favorite Nick JR TV shows, God I wish there was a Network that only has Nick JR shows.
I totally forgot about this show until I saw a picture of Magellan on Google Images...nostalgia hit me like a train and I didn't know why until I clicked on the website. I used to watch this show all the time back in the early 90s when I was a little girl♡
My son is 19, he'll be 20 later this year. This was his fave. show ever. He used to cry so hard when it was over. I had to record several episodes on VHS for him, so he could watch it continue-sly. I watched many with him. It sure was a great kids show. :)
I always used to pretend to be sick to my parents, and I heard this when my grandma used to mind me, and she knew I wasn't sick, but we both danced to the music when this show aired! "Spicy salty, sour sweet, bring us something good to eat!"
David S. Yes, I miss mine too..... No car payments, no insurance payments, free chauffeur service, no annual car and license re-registration, no need for a fishing permit, no worries about cholesterol, no need to worry about a job because I was too young, and SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS! REAL CARTOONS! THE KIND WITH IDIOTS, EXPLOSIVES, FALLING ANVILS AND PIANOS, ORCHESTRATED MUSIC AND NON-POLITICALLY-CORRECT HUMOR!
oh my god... i used to watch this show as a toddler... i don't really remember this show, but the intro and some of the characters are ringing bells. Great to see this.
clockwork421 Nietzsche says fuck you. He says you just think that, just like today's kids will say that in a generation or two. it's all nostalgia. Nothing but emotion. Ultimately, so we are to believe, there is no true good show, but only our perception of goodness. But, I say fuck that shit. Today's showsome are crap. I'm 30. I stopped with Victorious and Wizards of Waverly Place. That's when it went downhill for me. it's not just nostalgia. Those shows were better.
I rember watching this when I was 4. It was like my fave show and my mom used to watch it with us. What I didn't know then was a famous author actually helped with this show.
OMG I cant believe I found this Ive been looking for it for years but I didnt remember how it was called!GOD THE MEMORIES Ive been watching this since I was 2 BRILLIANT!this is what I call lovely childrens television!!They dont make them like this anymore and they probably never will again!
Many different people worked with the Henson company, as they had the workshop that made the puppets and taught the puppeteers. But that didn't automatically make Jim Henson's direct team involved with the projects :) They were often busy with multiple ones of their own at any given time.
Omg! I'm 19 and I can remember this. My m and I talk about this show when we reminece. I will never forget this show. I want them on DVD or something so I can watch this.
Sure. I just took a sip of my ecto cooler and reminisced while watching this. When did I get so old and why didn't life turn out the way I wanted it to?...
Eureeka's Castle was Nickelodeon/Nick Jr.'s version of Jim Henson’s Muppets on Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and Fraggle Rock. I loved all the characters, the sorcerer Eureeka, the dragon Magellan, the pets Cooey and the Slurms, the bat Batley, the spider Webster, Bogge and Quagmire, Mr. Knack, the mice Sir Klank, Kate, and Emma, the singing fish statues called The Fishtones, and The Giant, the off-animated segments from Western Woods Studios films based on popular children's books, live-action short films, and U.K. imports such as Roobard, The Shoe People, and Gran, they'd use as filler Entertainment. I used to watch this show all the time. From 1992 to 1993, the show aired from 9:00am to 12:00 noon Monday to Friday, From Summer to early fall 1993, it was from 9:00 to 11:00am. From Fall to Winter 1993, it was from 10:00am to 11:00am, From early to Summer 1994, it was from 12:00 to 1:00pm 1993 to 1996, in Summer 1994, the half-hour timeslot was from 12:00pm. From fall 1994 to early fall 1996, and fall 1998 to Spring 1999, it was from 1:00 to 1:30pm, when it was replaced by Franklin. Memories!!!
Oh wow. So many memories tied to this show. And it certainly is a reason for my love of mechanical stuff ( the music box castle gearing) and good music ( the harmony singing fish fountain) because the show was full of both :)
Wowwwww. I completely forgot about this show until I just saw it on here. Can't believe I forgot about it. And still remembered all of the words. Wish kids today had shows like this. Nick and ESPECIALLY Disney have pretty much all pre teen/teen tv shows where they act all grown.
Use this tool to get alot of them for free!! facebook.com/1517160868604660/photos/a.1517166945270719.1073741828.1517160868604660/1518678735119540/?type=3&pidid=5c28f16d-0696-4d8d-ae4e-f9c2fd238e79 Eureeka's Castle Opening and Closing
I used to wach this show everyday on YTV when I was young I miss those carefree days of yesteryear and I would give almost anything to go back to them again.
Holy crap, I was just thinking about this the other day but I couldn't remember the name of the show and I went to Google and punched in "Elmira's Castle" and it showed me this and my jaw dropped because I was starting to think it was like "Candle Cove" and I only imagined it!
You can find alot of these old shows online if you don't mind technically pirating. Even so, don't expect HD quality. Back then you're lucky if they aired in 420p mostly they were in standard definition
Any body remember Nick news??? lol I use to hate it when I was a kid and turn the tv off I think it was the last show on Saturday night "Snick" before nick at night would air. Memories!!!!
old school nick jr. was awesome. i know whomever comes and watches this would have sung along with the opening of Guhlla Guhlla island...also the fish here reminded me of those purple vitamin Flintstone tablets, and the pink peanut butter eating puppet reminded me of a strawberry ice cream bar lol Batly was my favorite character as i remember
Oh God I wish that There was a Network That Only Airs Awesome Shows Like This One, and Cartoons, Because Kids Today Don't Even Know What They're Missing, All There Is Now On TV Is Crappy Shows.
I was born in 88 and watched this shit all the time, My reaction to seeing this just now for the first time since maybe 1992 was, "Holy fuck." I remembered most of the parts especially the slugs talking to each other for some reason.
Thus brings back so many childhood memories, kids today will never know GOOD TV and this show was a prime example of how shows lived to stir the imagination, not bludger it like they do today.
It's funny that just hearing the opening to this floods my mind with memories. Remembering the "feel" of all the silly kid stuff I had forgotten. thats the real magic behind theese shows from the 80's & 90's. How each show was able to time capsle memories of your "feelings" from the moments of your childhood. Almost like the show was a best friend that promised to remember all the little things you would eventually forget as you got older, and to show you years later it was true to its word.
Might have been the first time I seen this, or thought about it, in twenty-something years. To borrow a phrase, at 30, I feel old. One of the better television puppet shows not related to Jim Henson.
yep r.l. stein really knew how to make great tv shows for all ages lol which might explain why i loved this so much as a kid when i found out that stein made it :P
that moment when you get bored then you suddenly think of a tv show you havent seen since you were a little kid in the early 90s that you used to watch all the time and you think to yourself hmm i wonder if i can find it on youtube for old times sakes and you actually manage to find the opening and ending of it on youtube ...yep...right in the childhood nostalgia
Looking back on shows I'd forgotten I used to watch always brings back memories I didn't know I had... Just watching this video gives me that "I remember this from somewhere/nostalgic" feeling that makes me wanna try and recall more. I used to watch this when I wasn't even older enough to follow a simple plot line or get the jokes.\ the images come rushing from my subconscious when I see this. It's kinda cool and weird at the same time
OMG!!!! THIS IS OLD!!! I used to watch this when I was little I cannot believe that there is this posted on here!!! THANK YOU for bringing back the old school late 80's 90's kid show TV programs awesome!!!! :)
I remember watching this all the time. For some reason being at home sick once watching this always sticks out to me. Also, Eureeka looks like one of my friend, minus the horns. ;)
Oh God I remember this show, it was AWESOME and Amazing, God I wish that This and other old School Nickelodeon Shows and cartoons would be on a DVD Anthology Box Set, because Kid's Today don't even know what good shows are, all that's on TV is the crappy ones, also I think that There should be a place that has all the sets (including this set of this AWESOME show), and the set of the TV series "Are You Afraid of the dark". At Universal Studios, And Also The Set Of Eureeka's Castle would have The Characters Of This Show Too, and It'll have Pictures of every single Old School Nickelodeon Cartoon Show too.
