Just 3 years ago, Italy, for the first time in 60 years, did not qualify to the world cup. And now, after a breathtaking journey and against all odds, they are champions of Europe. #Italy #Euro2020

I was one of the few who had anticipated Italy to win, so much so that I traveled to Italy to watch the final there. My British friends (and other's as well) all pointed to the fact that Chiellini and Bonucci were simply too old to stop younger and faster forwards (Lukaku, for example) from scoring. I was outraged that the English media did not have Italy as one of the favorites despite the record they had coming into the tournament. They focused on the older fact that Italy could not qualify for the world cup and disregarded the recent performance and the stunning play from Mancini's guidance. Also, what was missing is that Italy is always great after devastating circumstances. All you need to look at Italy's last two world cups, each coming from scandals and match fixing and had players having to overcome incredible personal obstacles to win it all. Never underestimate Italy when the odds are too great for them to overcome, as seen here...
@@lamberto6405 I was also one of the few people in my neighbourhood who expected Italy to do well in the tournament. A lot of people used to laugh at me when I told them Italy would advance far in the tournament. But I just knew these players have great character and grinta. Italy was undoubtedly the best Team. I am just so happy for all my Italian friends. After the hell they have experienced in the past 18 months this will give them a light for a bright future. After the letdown against Sweden in 2017 I didn't even dare to dream before last September that Italy could win Euro 2020. Only after their performances in the qualifiers and the Nations League I started to have faith in these guys. Immense, outstanding Roberto Mancini. Chiellini and Bonucci - a phenomenal pair. They both deserved such a trophy before ending their careers. With a better striker Italy would surely have a great chance for WC 2022. @Goal360 Thank you for the amazing video!! It gives me goosebumps and I will never get tired of watching it.
@@SamueleFerranti ti sei sentito offeso in qualche modo? Se si mi dispiace ma il mio voleva essere un messaggio positivo, anche io avrei fatto come Florenzi!😁
Well played Italy, totally deserved to win the final against us, as an Englishman Absolutely gutted we didn’t win but now the dust has settled and I’ve watched the final fully 2 times now, if you guys didn’t win against such a negative England it would of been a travesty tbh. You played with confidence and we played with fear and nerves at time. Want to apologise on behalf of England about the behaviour of a small minority of our fans. Good bless my friend, and good luck against Spain in the nations league semi final and World Cup 2022, I think italy will win both tbh. 🏴❤️🇮🇹 and to all the Scott’s out there, you fellas needs to start developing your own national football rather than hating on England all the time. I’ve Always supported Scotland and Wales at international tournaments, shame it isn’t mutual. 🇮🇹❤️🏴❤️🇮🇹🏴❤️🇮🇹🏴❤️
Italy will always be favourite against any team. And they were against England. Except the England supporters there won't be anyone supporting them any way
Our team, Czechia, played a friendly in Italy 2 weeks before Euro. We lost 4:0 and Italians played fantastic football. Since then I thought they were going to win the tournament. After their first game against Turkey I was sure they were going to go all the way. And I cheered for them in all their games because I just liked the way they played. After the friendly I thought the Czechs would not be able to compete at Euro but our boys did pretty well in the group, then beat the Dutch in the round of 16. Anyway, forza azzurri! The European title is in the right hands.
@Frazzox"n a short tournament" ,ok italy is still unbeaten since 34 matches. "As little talent" , Insigne,Chiesa,Immobile,Jorginho, just to name a very few
Thank you for this video! To quote Caressa, “Thank the Lord for giving us soccer!” As an Italy fan, of course, I’m quite happy with the result, but as someone searching for truth and joy in life, this tournament, and the example of the Italian national team and of people like Christian Ericksen and those who rallied around him, show us that the mystery of suffering draws us closer to something greater in God’s great plan. Forza brothers and sisters!
The whole world was rooting for Italy, I dont know much about football but still stumbled upon the euro finals and fell in love with the Italians what a lovelt bunch of players, love from India 🇮🇳
This is the best summer i ever had since 2006. I thought it will be a long building process and far from being one of the favourites winning the tournament, given that Italy missed out in 2018 World Cup. from missing out of world cup to Euro winners. even myself as an Azzurri fan, that is being the wildest dream even the die-hard Azzurri fans could imagine. Grazie Mancio the maestro #forzaitalia #vivoazzurri
Thanks for mentioning the Olympics. Britain 4th in medals. Yes some were won by Scots and Welsh competitors too but not many. And eurovision is un scherzo. Sotanto le nonne lo guardono. Nel mundo real, noi: The Beatles, Oasis, Spice Girls etc. Voi: ricchi e poveri 😁😁
Chiesa played his heart out! Really happy for him, but also for Manchini who was, without doubt, one of the Italian greats, along with Baggio, Pirlo, and Zola.
@@salvatorecatalano9961 I do think he was v good, but in my opinion, not quite as good as those others that I mentioned. Just my opinion. Obviously, you are a big fan of Del Piero, right?
@@lizardlordlordoflizards5096 Zola was good, but not on the same level as Baggio, Totti, Del Piero, Meazza or Mazzola - imho (or Pirlo too, though he played in a different area of the pitch. There would be many to consider if looking at the whole pitch, like Baresi, Maldini, Buffon, Zoff, Tardelli etc.)
I'm an England fan but I've got to hand it to them they were f*cking good and in that final we fell to sh*t letting it go to penalties so fair play to them👏👏👏
A great video mate. A great speech at the end. Only fools disregard the Azzurri in any tournament! Forza Azzurri sempre! Canada and the whole world was behind you!
Italy deserved the win as a football team and as a country the pandemic destroyed them more than any country in Europe so many people died and lost 😢 they needed this
They deserve to be the champion after what they've been through, the covid-19 that had devastated the country early last year .. won't be surprise if they reach world cup finals. Their win was a honest win and I'm happy for them.
Giorgio chiellini always makes me laugh when he laughs bit of character with a sense of humour when playing on field for club and Country Forza azzuri italia 🇮🇹 🇬🇧 😊😊👍
As an Italian, I thank all the nations that cheered and supported us in the final. Seeing videos of other nations cheering for our victory made me excited. Thanks from Italy ❤️
Haha that's very true, in Greece everyone celebrated like we won Euro again, crazy celebration and eruption on the streets and balconies. It was so shocking and genuinely moving, sympathy for what Italy suffered and love for Italy and their team. Congratulations
I saw Italy as the favourites after the group stages because they played with the most spirit. They were the only team going in to games ready to give it all. I am so happy that the team with the best attitude, the most determination and most heart won. This is the beauty of football. Italy is a place of great culture and its people care very much for their country, they totally deserved it. I hope that football will stay the same with all these new changes going on. Congrats Italy... Much love from a nonitalian.
I'm so proud of Italy's football growth. Italy looking strong for 2022. Congrats Italy, you deserved that win... *edit: people wanted it to be football instead so I'll just do it*
We didn't play counter-attack though. Yes, we could score on the counter-attack but the focus is to force the play - pressing, high energy, movement...Mancini has changed the ethos of the national team.
Rome wasn't built in a day... Great job Mancini 👏 We leave to the hyped ones the sponsors and tv ads. We get home the trophies being ingenious with a lot of mental strength, tactical order , resilience, few top class players and a great team game.
I dedicate Italy winning this, Eurovision and all the other successes in the Olympics etc to my Italian father who passed away in January. Mancini should get manager of the year award.
As an Italian, I want to say you THANK YOU for this amazing video! It was too much emotional. In the early 2020’s it wasn’t easy for Italy, but this year we’re stronger! Thank you AZZURRI for this amazing adventure! 🇮🇹🏆 I love you ITALY! Thank you God I was born in the most beautiful country of the world. although all its contradictions, I’m so proud to be Italian.🇮🇹❤️
And there were a Swedish and a Serbian guy talking shit about the national team bragging to be superior just because Sweden eliminated Italy from 2018 WC in the playoffs, saying that Italian football is full of corruption unlike Sweden and they have 2 fascist stars on the jersey just because they won 1934 and 1938 WCs. But screw them all! Screw whoever discredits and underestimates Italy! They never won cups unlike us!!!! WE ARE CHAMPIONS!!!!
Even though your home nation is not Italy 12:42 - 13:17 if u have tears at this point. You are real FOOTBALL LOVER ❤️. you won't fight for who is real goat. You just LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL GAME - FOOTBALL.
Unbelievable video didn’t expect to get this emotional so many weeks after the tournament. Fantastic quality and very moving narration! FORZA ITALIA🇮🇹🇮🇹
Cannot thank u enough for this video! Really I don't have the words to say u THANK U! I don't know y but u put tears in my eyes ... This video has a part of my heart! The words u used n all the images n video clips u included in this fantastic work made it amazing ! I will never ever be tired to re-watch it again ... u deserve more recognition! Thank u again for ur words! Hats off to u bro! May God bless u!
Superb Video.Well put together. As a person, who gave up football a long long time ago, because i thought i had now grown-up.Italy has now changed all that. I now hear a soft tingling voice, masquerading my ears, singing, welcome back my lost son, to the house of the Azzuri. Never ever, to leave this magnificent game, till i close my eyes. Viva Italia!!! do not quit......keep us forever spellbound..........a fan from India.
When opponent scored goal, Bonucci creid in Heart, and led his team to victory...Especially in final..... He is real game changer......Congrats to Blue jersys from Blue jersys (INDIA)......
In 21 editions of the World Cup only Brazil has 5 trophies ... only Italy and Germany have 4 ... Every time, in an international cup, Italy does not start as the favorite, according to the press or the commentators ... but in the end, very often, it reaches the final or semifinal ... So the question is ... why are there so many idiots who underestimate the Italian national team!?!?
It's understandable in this year Euro. All know they are a good team but they don't have individual qualities on every position. Aging pair of center backs, relatively unknown fullbacks, average wingers, and Immobile's form on international football.
@@fauzi5435 Its anytime the same... in 1982 nobody know Rossi, Scirea, Tradelli or Causio; in 2006 nobody realized that Nesta Cannavaro Materazzi Zambrotta Gattuso Grosso Pirlo and Camoranesi and Inzaghi was a superstars... Many recognized only Buffon and Del Piero as top player. Awfull mistake...
First of all, the center backs are aging, but you have to check theyr overall rating. Age is no more a reliable proxy of capability. We had a super champion, but it was the goalkeeper, not very on the spotlight as a role. We had a couple of midfielders like Verratti and Jorgigno, that are top tier. the rest of the team was made of very capable players, and spinazzola surely was in the top tier. But the real top player of all, was the team spirit. It works as a multiplier, and Mancini took care relentlessly of this aspect.
What's the name of the Italian commentator? Was he the one who commentated on the Grosso goal in 2006? His voice sounds familiar - really passionate commentary
@@humptydumpty20 how come it took me 15 years to realise that Italy's captain, the player who scored the final penalty and the commentator all had the same name?
I still remember, I was on holiday watching Italy-Spain in the living room of my hotel along with other Italians and my relatives. 2 days after the match i was in the car with my brothers and my mother, when Leonardo, one of my two brothers, took my mom’s phone and put the song “Il Piave”. We sang it along with other Italian songs such as “Notti Magiche”, and our national Anthem. What makes this really poetic is that the song “Il Piave”, talk about prevailing on other nationalities, just like what happened in euro 2020. This video brought me tears 8 months the victory against England
I appreciate the final sentence of the speaker of this video, when he says " for the rest of us this is a useful remind, never disregard the Italians in an international tournament" :-)
