The big problem is, our team (Austria) has alot of injurys right now. We would need a miracle to get through groups, it‘s only possible if Netherlands underperform. The big goal, as Rangnick said, is being at the World Cup and playing a good tournament there.
@@thomashauer6804 yea we always do haha. Also like the home EM when our only goal was a pen 😂 but I remember everybody talking how we will move to on quarters
@@Rokkugo47 ok the home EM was stil the "old horror times with 70s football" that changed lol but yea we need confidence but never become arrogant we are on a good way this time. every point is a success at the endround
They MUST beat Poland and sneak through as a 3rd placed team, which I find plausible. Then in the round of 16 anything is possible. I highly doubt they have the belief of going past the quarters though. Lacking star players, I hope they won't be scared of the big teams. Austria is definitely an interesting dark horse that can't be underestimated cause the players stand behind Rangnick's spirit and teamgeist.
It’s gonna be very tough since they’re arguably in the group of death, but I still have them as my biggest dark horse team. As a Swede I saw how they dominated us and gave Belgium a good fight, which is why I have much faith in them
Nice Preview. But actually we are missing 4 VERY important players Alexander Schlager #1 Goalkeeper, and then Alaba/Xaver Schlager/Kalajdzic ... the 2 Schlagers are the most important ones though.
I am Austrian in I really hope that our team will do well at the EURO 2024. But with David Alaba and Xaver Schlager missing, it will be really hard. The game against Poland will be the key, if we win this game, the chances to reach the knockout-stage will bei alive.
I think you have made some valid points. My concern is France first and the injuries might just find them out. If they get a little luck against the Dutch and grab a draw then who knows. Have that vibe of Greece and Denmark when they won.
Mr Rangnick would not agree with your 4 points strategy. In a documentary about his work in Austria he points out: The mindset upfront every game must be "we can beat this team". After the 1:1 between Austria and France he was furious. Austria was leading 1:0 since the 37th minute. Mbappe scored the 1:1 only in the 83rd minute. When the journalists congratulated after the game he was not pleased. Because the 1:1 was avoidable and he did not care about France being world champion.
Anyone can beat anyone this year. It's just that a few teams won't be able to surprise us three or four times, Georgia springs to mind. But Austria, in this environment and this form, is one of the favorites for me. Them reaching the final or even winning the thing wouldn't surprise me. At all.
I think Schlager will not be missed that much because Laimer will switch to this position and Wimmer will play on Laimers position. I‘m more concerned about the missing of Alaba = most his experience and his calmnes.
Seiwald has to step up for Schlager. But based on his talent, he is able to do that. Grillitsch will play for Schlager in midfield. Lets see, Grillitsch played not to bad for Hoffenheim this season.
THREE AUSTRIAN PLAYERS SUFFERED TORN ACL'S-DAVID ALABA, SAŠA KALAJDŽIĆ AND XAVI SCHLAGER, BUT IF MARKO ARNAUTOVIĆ CAN TURN BACK THE CLOCK, GREGORITSCH AND SABIZTER BECOME PART OF THE GOAL CEREBERUS WITH MARKO, THE TEAM FUNCTIONS AS A WHOLE, FEAR THE RED-WHITE-RED EAGLES FOLKS. IDEMO AUSTRIJA!
Nice vid but the Ukraine comparisson with Mudryk, Zinchenko… was total bs. An Alaba is 10 times the player of their format and even Sabitzer or Laimer are way better and more necessary for their teams
No sorry, everyone predicts Austria to surprise... at this point it would not be a surprise anymore, BUT we cannot compensate our injured players and our group is something else. It would have been a surprise if we managed this group even without those injuries. We will put up a fight for sure, but plz don't predict us to be a dark horse.
and we are missing 4, because our keeper is also down :( ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-pe-dWWrR2iM.html -->Austria:Turkey IDN if its region locked
Great grandpa: So who's playing in the final of the Euro 2024? Me: Austria - Hungary Great grandpa: Against whom? (I know, this one has a long beard but I still think it's funny 😛)
austria played against hungary 137 times since 1902 (austria - switzerland happened 41 times and takes place 2) which is more often than england vs scotland
I also think Austria are Dark Horses. Stronger than both Poland and Netherlands and they can cause France problems also. whether they make it through as 2nd or 3rd will determine quarter finals or r16
I had high hopes. Then Alaba got injured and we did a great job replacing him in the last international break. But now Xaver Schlager is also injured, who is arguably even more important for Rangnick's system than Alaba. We'll see how we can make up for that in the test matches against Serbia and Switzerland. In general, we are plagued by injuries, more so than other countries, and with that in mind, there are some questionable nominations for the provisional squads, or rather, some players are surprisingly missing. For example, Marco Friedl, who has been in great form as captain of Werder Bremen. Or Kevin Stöger, who leads the statistics in creating chances not only in the Bundesliga, but throughout Europe. He was the man of the match in the Miracle of Düsseldorf I just watched, where Bochum came back from 3-0 down in the first leg against Fortuna, thanks to his 2 assists, a penalty he pulled and then converted (they secured their place in the Bundesliga on penalties, where he converted another). Sorry for doting...
our team can go to quarters or exit on the group stage. everything is open. for me as an austrian it is only important that they give everthing and then we will see the outcome. france and netherlands have better players, but we can make one point out of these two games and with a win against poland we are in the last 16 round.
From Austria: Our problem is the group. If we lose against France and the Netherlands and draw unluckily against Poland no-one can really complain but we are still out (similar to Euros 2008, norrow losses against Croatia and Germany and draw against Poland)
Austria is strong but has never been a tournament team. They almost always crumble under pressure and struggle when it comes to the big stage. If they are able to survive this though group it would already be a sensation.
Thank you very much for the extremely objective and professional analysis, we are to be taken seriously again, because we have heart and courage, combined with high pressing and a lot of routine, sunny greetings from Styria/Austria Anton ;)
yes, because X. Schlager had been injured before. But he has been more important than Seiwald, the heart and the lungs of the team (Beischl maybe?), and I'm not hating on Seiwald, who I think has a promising future.
@@hustlehustlehustle true true but i think itll still work bc laimer will prob go back into the midfield and someone like wimmer will prob where laimer was
@@stylel9889 we will see how they can compensate X. Schlager in matches against Serbia and Switzerland. I had hoped Rangnick would nominate Friedl and Stöger. I watched the latter yesterday in the Miracle of Düsseldorf, where Bochum came back from a 0-3, thanks to his 2 assists, then pulling a penalty and converting it. Bochum secured their spot in penalties, where he converted another one. He truly is an Unterschiedsspieler, but apparently doesn't fit into Ralle's game plan.
@@roBBer77 Yup, that will be the move, alternatively with Grillitsch on Schlager's position for more defensive control in some match-ups and freeing up Laimer on offense. X. Schlager is a huge loss for the tournament, and internationally, people don't really recognize many of our players, but especially in midfield we probably have one of the best selections in the tournament. Players like Schmid, Grüll or Seiwald are not really on the radar for anyone outside of Austria/Germany, but they're either in amazing form or have been incredibly solid for years.
austria play 4312 (442 diamond) or 4222 bcs the players they have really suit this system. laimer and sabitzer initially were a wide player until their club coaches decided to deploy him more centrally. i also disagree if someone said austria didnt have star players like ukraine have zinchenko, austria have better stars in sabitzer and baumgartner, and i think austria is a lot better if we compared them with another dark horses such as denmark, ukraine, turkey, serbia. and indeed, they could reach the qf if the draw would become nicer for them.
As an Austrian: I agree this is the most promising Team we ever had in the modern era of football. The injuries really hurt though. There is also one more you missed: aside from Xaver Schlager also Alexander Schlager is injured. I know, not a really prominent name, but a solid goalkeeper for our team. The problem is: Austria has no depth in this position. He might be even harder to replace than some of the more prominent injured players.
Good one, though I disagree with Red Bull being bad for the league. Its presence increased the overall quality in the league during the last 10 years. Austrian clubs are now a lot more professional and have also shown in european competitions that they can challenge bigger teams. We saw a shift in recent years where clubs like LASK and Sturm took the place of Austria Wien and Rapid Wien as the number one challenger. And boy did they do well. They already came very close in the recent years, but finally managed to take away the title this year.
I also think Austria 🇦🇹 will make it to the quarter finals because I think they will upset Netherlands 🇳🇱 and then beat the runner up of Group E Not to mention they have been scoring, lots of goals and creating lots of shots just as long as the defense can keep up with all the opponents then I think Austria 🇦🇹 will do very well in this euros
Thank you for that detailed analysis of our team!!! Just one thing! When pronouncing names from an other country, do not try to say it "right", just say it in the english way. Your pronounciation is weird xD
Austria has a strong team spirit. There have been repeated problems in France, Poland and the Netherlands in the past. They understand each other blindly and that's exactly what some big teams lack.
My dark horses for this EURO are Ukraine, Hungary and Austria. In that order. Turkey are a wild card. They may cause for one or two surprises too. But it's not as certain as with the former three.
as an austrian i have to say "salzburg is the reason i stopped watching our league 8 years ago, and even though im a sturm graz fan i didnt even see any of our games this season" but i have to admit that the reason we play like a club team is salzburg...cause we are a club team 90% of our natinal team players were in the slazburg academy at some point...including our trainer :P
Austria is in a really good place right now, I just hope that the group stage doesn't ruin their hard work, France, Netherlands and Poland aren't easy opponents...
the main austrian goalie alexander schlager is injured as well which will hurt but lindner is back after getting diagnosted with cancer hopefully hell come in fully motivated
i was in the stadium for the austria vs turkey game it was just amazing first half we played pretty good but after half time we gave everything i agree we gonna miss xaver schlager he is important for us but austria is still a good team and we only need a draw against france and we should be through
Hi Michael, first of all great video!!! I think if the Netherlands have the same chance exploitation in the Euro as in the last 2 qualifications, our chance is better than against France. Because despite the fact that they are a very good team, they often overplay their chances and so miss them. Where as a Dutch person you have already thrown your hands in the air and then they forgive them. Poles from what I saw are very dependent on Levandowski, from what I saw he has to initiate the attack and finish it at the end. I think we're favorites against Poland too, but it's football all can happen. France can be a bitter day for any team, but they have to win and of course they have pressure against every team. But we have high hopes, that we get at least the 3. place.
@@dam1an273 I only saw the highlights after the matches and it looked like a lot depended on Leva and he got the ball in midfield, started the attack and then finished. I'll be honest, I didn't see a single full match, only highlights. It will definitely be a close match where small details will decide. We have the same conditions, a lot of foreign players but not really at the top clubs. We will play for third place.
@@sifkn Yes, he often come back to midfield for the ball, but he is wooden af and he lost ball there or plays very slow, then rivals come back to the defence and he pass the ball to our defenders... He also missed many great opportunities. In last 6 matches under new coach Lewandowski scored literally 1 goal against LATVIA... Under Santos he scored 3 goals - 2 against Faroe Islands and 1 against Moldova. His last good game in national team was 2 years ago in World Cup play offs against Sweden. Of course I didn't even mention that Lewandowski in probably the worst captain in football history. Austrian defenders don't have to do anything special to stop Lewandowski, he is overrated, just let him play and he will miss all chances :)
@@dam1an273 We hope you're right that he won't cause any problems for our defenders. I'd rather he didn't get any chances than he got chances that he might miss. It's precisely at major events that the old rabbits become foxes. How old is he, 35-36? Our strength is the collective, we don't really have a standout striker. Four regular players who would definitely play are out injured, which we were able to compensate for well in recent games. We're pressing like crazy and hoping that someone will score, because we don't have a target player in attack. This group is amazing, 2 top teams and the other 2 very good teams. I don't think anyone would have wanted this group.
Netherlands and France will CRUSH Austria. They are decent but not on the level of the Dutch or France. (Van Dijk, de Ligt, Ake, de Jong, Dumphries, Reijnders, Koopmeiners, Frimpong, Maatsen, van de Ven etc etc) the Dutch lost from Germany 2-1 in the last minute and played better then the Germans. Plus the France and Dutch have far more experience in big tournaments. Simply NO chance. When the Dutch lost from France half of the team where injured.
@@chevchelioz6663 Austria won against Germany (in between two matches that Germany won against France). Yes, Austria is unfortunately plagued with injuries, which is why they still may lose, but when they are at their best, they can beat any team, including the Dutch. As of the last international break, they have been among the strongest, and that's without Alaba.
