I think people misheard me about Palhinha, he's a very good defensive midfielder, but we need to see it at a major competition I think he started vs Belgium back in 2021. He needs to play well!
You are sick in the head if ur worried about DM because of the lack of defending from Palhinha… Literally the guy with the most tackles in the prem and one of the best DMs in the world
@@Daniel-ep4kp That is literally what portugal needs, we have a shit ton of creative players, and our CB's are some of the best on the ball center backs that there is, if portugal play with cancelo roaming to central areas and palinha droping in, palinha will have a lot of passing options to more creative players arround him. He just needs to provide defensive security, both inacio and dias can pass the ball forwards really well, joao neves, vitinha, cancelo and matheus nunes cand progress the ball trough the middle of the field really well, and bruno fernandes can organize the attack with disruptive wingers and ronaldo on the front. Palinha really gives portugal the defensive fortitude that we need, go see some statistics, he is leading the prem in tackles.
Portugal has INSANE depth at every position man if they bottle this one, coach needs to get sacked…. It’s not even fair how stacked their team is, scary good talent right now. Best in the world
@@mike727272 contra uma defesa de cochos é fácil, vamos ver quando apanhar defesas fortes, lanço o meu prognóstico, vai desaparecer totalmente do jogo. Vai dormir que o teu mal é sono.
I don’t really trust their squad they got scored on twice against Finland and they could’ve gotten punished even more if it was a bigger team however they didn’t have Pepe so idk
@@buggydclownakawilmer302 yes as Portuguese we always had a top team in the last 2 decades but we allways fall short cuz of coaches or chemistry between the team itself... overall all national teams lost one of the most precious things "HEART".... 2 decades ago you didn't had the same level of tactics and technicality that we have nowadays but they would eat grass and break a leg for the country.... now I don't feel that anymore...
Clearly you have no idea how good Palhinha is my friend. If we want to win these Euros, our starting 11 needs to be: GK: Diogo Costa CB: Rúben Dias CB: Pepe or Gonçalo Inácio LB: Nuno Mendes RB: Diogo Dalot CDM: João Palhinha CM: Vitinha CAM: Bruno Fernandes RCAM: Bernardo Silva (which is mostly what he plays, both Portugal and City, an ofensive midfield that falls to the right wing) LW: Rafael Leão CF: Cristiano Ronaldo And btw, the key player here is João Palhinha. Why? Because we have a pretty offensive RB and LF so, when they are attacking, Palhinha is the one holding that midfield with the CB's to avoid balls behind the defense and to avoid counter attacks. Cancelo should just stay on the bench and come in on the second half, because he is horrible at defending and he is too selfish to play with the team... Ramos is not good as a CF, he just ghosts the team on that position so, he should come on the 2nd half, on the 65th min instead of Leão, to play more like a SA.
Palhinha is a world class DM and his stats prove it. He leads the prem in successful tackles. Dalot was rated player of the year by his own teammates. United is shit. It's not his fault. Diogo Costa commits mistakes? The only recurrent mistakes I saw him make was when Porto coach forces him to play the ball to the closest player by foot. Even with the other team is pressing high. It's bound to happen.
7:19 if Bruno Fernandes (please no) gets injured, you move Bernardo back and replace the winger position with someone like Neto or Felix and there is PLENTY of bite with Palhinha. Spot on assessment from you in my opinion
He very recently said it was probably a mistake not to accept the invitation before Portugal chose Robert Martinez. It makes sense, it's probably the strongest squad ever for Portugal. Strong players in all positions.
@@Thru_Mind_I Nonsense. There would be no better partnership in football than Ronaldo and Mourinho on the team they both belong on regardless of contracts, transfers and loans.
I believe you said you're Finnish? Your Portuguese name pronunciations are pretty damn good! I remember back in the early 2000s, the English commentators used to butcher the names lol.
I'm pissed they aren't playing Renato Sanches. He is a bull & great addition to the team he can defend greatly & move the ball up the field like a beast.
Dalot being one of few ManU bright spots id love to see him start over Cancelo. So my ideal starting 11 running an attacking 433 GK- Cost LB- Mendes CB- Dias CB- Pepe (Ignacio as the primary sub for either player) RB- Dalot CM- Vitinha & Paulinha (I don't want Rueben Neves or Danilo touching the pitch once this tournament) Joao Neves and Nunes are fresh legs. CAM- Fernandes LW- Leao ST- Felix (Ronaldo will probably start, Ramos should be the sub) RW- Silva (Felix be the sub if Vitinha is starting at CM) *if we start Ronaldo which is most likely I think we put Vitinha on the bench run Fernandes at CM and Silva at CAM keeping Felix on attack. But I could see Vitinha staying and Felix being the sub for Silva at RW.*
Weakest point on this team is and has always been the goalkeeper but the mentality is their worst enemy. If they start well they will kill this tournament but if it could also go the totally opposite way if they start discussing on the team etc. etc.
The team lacks determination and absolute melts when adversity comes around. It is full of pseduo heroes that can't work as a team. There is no togetherness. There is also dogmas that should be well aknowledge, Ronaldo being the biggest elepahnt in the room, when a front 3 of Leao, Ramos or Bernardo is much well suited for the offensive transition of the team. They will fail against the first opposition that really presses them with atittude in the knockouts, and I may not even be talking about a Germany or Italy or France.

@@Casian291 I’m a Porto fan! I’ve seen him done a few mistakes but not big ones, like for example onana has been doing all year long, in fact he big time saves us from conceding way many more times, and with his feet he’s up there with the best.
All of Portugal’s potential problems are defensive. As long as they can keep out the goals, their attack can somehow find a way to score a goal. But it’s their defensive capabilities I’m worried about.
@@rallealyt it has nothing to do with Benfica man, when Portugal plays we are rooting for the same team, i'm not a clubist. Reason why i said what i said is, Cancelo is horrible at defending, and that is a fact, and Antonio Silva was the reason why we conceeded 2 goals against Sweeden, 2 goals against Slovenia and 1 of the 2 goals yesterday...
Ronaldo is no leader. A leader takes the first pk in shootouts. He waits to see how it's going so he can be the hero. Messi and Modric are leaders...they always take the first ones
I'm trying real hard to understand WHY you have Germany beating Portugal in the Quarterfinals of the Euro Cup. No chance... Germany could very easily go out in the round of 16.
Another Sporting fan bitching. Who are you taking out to bring him? That's the question. The fact you won the league doesn't mean we have to bring your entire squad. Chill.
You are pretty much spot on about your Portugal analysis and ranking. The only thing that I would contest is Leao. I’m not convinced that he’s a starter for Portugal, yet. Until he can bring up his game to a consistent, day-in-day-out top performance, he needs to be that guy, the super-sub. That’s where he will be most valuable in this Euro. I would rather start Jota or Felix on the left.
Good vid bro 🔥 Bruno Fernandes is def world class bro …. I’m most worried about their center backs and keeper … everywhere else I see loads of talent even off the bench
Defense? Pepe, Ruben dias, Inácio, silva? Keeper? The best Young Keeper on europe, a former euro winner and a proven clutch Keeper plus a solid third Keeper? Im happy with that analisys
@@diogoteodoro6592 I’m not worried about the euro winner and the proven clutch keeper (who I want to start matches) or the solid third keeper, I’m worried about Diogo Costa the “best young keeper in Europe”, he’s proven to crack under pressure, he’s way too young to be starting in a national team with the responsibilities like the Portuguese national team, he should’ve gone through the process that Rui Patricio went through, climbing up the ranks and learning to sit on the bench for some time.
If I believe my predictions, Portugal should have gone through semifinal. The Round of 16 might be the trickiest one. My prediction has Portugal facing the holders Italy in this stage, which is a great Euro matchup (two last Euro winners facing each other). If they beat Italy without problems, Portugal will definitely reach the semifinal, but you know that they will probably face Spain or Germany in this stage.
My euro 2024 winners. Insane squad. Vitinha player of the tournament? They will beat England in the finals, you heard it here first. In quali's they scored 36 and conceded only 2. Two! The only thing that can stand in their way is Roberto Martinez. Good luck Portugal!
Portugal vs England might be the interesting final, but England is a serial bottlers in major stages. Plus, Portugal had beaten England twice on penalties (Euro 2004 and 2006 World Cup quarterfinals).
Diogo Costa Nuno mendes,Pepe ,Ruben dias,Joao cancelo Joao palhinha,Bruno Fernandes,Vitinha Rafael leao,Diogo jota,Bernardo Silva This is PORTUGAL strongest side ❤💚
DM the weak spot? I think we all Portuguese knows that the one spot we are good. Palhinha is amazing, and always delivers. All the other spots... Amazing players but could have bad games, or are prone to injuries. But Palhinha is our rock. And if something bad happens to him, then we are out immediately
Im portuguese, and i remember Fernando Santos saying before the 2026 euros, "Im just going home with the cup or im gone" and was that profecy that make that even more special
100% agree with your takes Portugal must make the Semis at minimum the only teams that we should ever struggle with are France and Germany for me not even England i think their defense is really bad so Portugal could easily exploit their backline. Portugal is top 3
I honestly feel like portugal will NOT win. The team is SO FIXED ON SHOWING THAT THEY DONT NEED RONALDO that they completely fall apart when he is on the field. I want them to win but it is embarrassing to see the egos from certain KEY PLAYERS. Meanwhile, even though Messi is PAST HIS BEST, the team plays for him because they want him to WIN.
Very nice analysis. I think Diogo Dallot should start because neither Silva or Leão can defend, so having the lateral backs advancing like crazy is a shitty idea. Also... I would not start Vitinha. Don't get me wrong I loved to watch him play for my FCPorto, but I would see him gravitate to Fernandes spot and that would split the team, soecially because Portugal is used to the wing game and with a 4-3-3 we need at least 2 mid that can defend and progress with the ball. Palhinha is just staying close to the defenders.aybe Mateus Nunes or Ruben Neves. Maybe I'm wrong. Who knows.
As a portuguese. Best DM Palhinha no doubt. Dalot might be a better choice for us football fans, for him as a coach i think he will start Cancelo everytime
Ronaldo Jota f.conceicao/neto B.fernandes Palinha B. Silva/j.neves Mendes/Cancelo Silva Dias Dalot/ cancelo Costa 1# I think conciecao would be crucial for beating the full backs & doing the assists to goal threats in ron, jota, fernandes, he can also cut in score curlers. Or, neto can terrorize defense with his speed in the counter & has the option to cut in as he is left footed. 2. I don't like rafael leaos body language in the national team. It looks to me milan is his only playground or comfort zone. On the other hand jota has the end product ; pace, trickery, right place right time , clinical, header. 3. B. Silva beside Palinha to orchestrate the game as he often does in man city, he has a great understanding of the tempo or rythm of a match & also very active in defensive duties. J. Neves mostly from the sub, to take more risks and progress with the ball, but silva over him just for the experience. 4. I think dalot can mess up sometimes, so we can switch to cancelo & n mendes on lb is excellent for pace & defensive work.
I'm tired of everyone seeing us as favourites. We won the euro when we were shitters. I think our players have this aura that they think they're the best, they need to be humble and focus.
Gk Diogo Costa CDF Rúben Dias CDF António Silva RDF Dalot LDF Cancelo CM Bruno Fernandes CM João Felix LW Rafael Leão RW Bernardo Silva CF Ronaldo CF Diogo Jota
Dude, i appreciate the video, but you should really put some time in studying the players and the team you're talking about because you clearly have no idea... Diogo Jota isn't the best of players???!!! What?!? Palhinha isn't reliable defensively??!!!? Diogo Costa is better with his feet?? Come on man ... 😅
I watch Jota every week he isnt the greatest footballer, but his super effective a pure striker. Diogo Costa for me atleast hasnt shown up for Portugal do we forget what happened in Qatar. Now Palhinha one his a very good DM I just want to see it for Portugal
I have Portugal going out in the quarter finals to a dark horse. At the same time they are one of my contenders and I have them along with England and Spain to win it (France are in contention yes but I don't think they will win it). I see potential for Semis, final or to be champions
