montella should build around calhanoglu , something similar to inter. We have ferdi and barış alper both can work great as wingbacks. Guler as number 10 , kenan yıldız and cenk tosun/semih/yazıcı up front. We just need a dynamo in the midfield next to calhanoglu to fill in the gap when wingbacks attack. This kinda line up is destined to upset portugal and take the lead in the group. If we arent gonna build around calhanoglu just bench him xD

The general notion is that İsmail Yüksek seems to be the preferred partner to Çalhanoğlu, with the rest being tested in recent games as alternatives. He adds the steel required at the base, which is why they played well against Croatia

I mostly agree with what’s been said, but I would also like to add some insights about the players: Demiral: He hasn’t been playing at an elite level since moving to Saudi Arabia, which is a terrible decision for his career at this age. It’s even debatable if he’ll be included in Turkey’s next squad. Soyuncu: Unfortunately, he’s out due to injury. Zeki Celik: I’m not sure, but this guy hasn’t been performing well with the national team. He’s just an average player, nothing special. I’d be surprised if he starts in the first eleven. Bardakci: This guy could play in a top 5 league. His pure left foot makes the build-up play much easier. Solid defender. Baris Alper Yilmaz: Sharing the same last name as Burak Yilmaz, I can say this guy is the next-gen Yilmaz. He’s a physical monster, can shoot very well, and is versatile as he can play in five positions. Kadioglu: Such a talented left wing-back. He was on Arsenal’s watchlist. Kilicsoy: If you consider Guler to have A+ potential, you could rate Kilicsoy’s potential at least an A. He’s only 18, started playing for Besiktas in December, but has made a big impact. Next-gen Aguero, he should definitely be called up for the tournament. imo he’s a bigger prospect than Yildiz. However, it ultimately depends on coach Montella. Somehow, he needs to combine pure talent with physical play. If we see Guler, Calhanoglu, Yildiz, and Kahveci all on the pitch together, Turkey would be a disappointment again.

He has become an absolute backbone for the national team even though he was playing for a team in 3rd tier of Turkish league just a couple of years ago (admittedly on loan from Fenerbahce). He developed a lot and I think he is the one that will complete the puzzle for this national team.

We don't like defense football. Even after the 0-0 the experts say, that game was bad. I agree that a good defense is very important but we turks only think that the game has to be played in the offense, but this isn't realistic. Somehow you have to control the game. But we have too many daydreams.

The main problem about Turkey is that they win against big teams but lose to smaller ones. They usually give the ball to the opponent and then press forward to get a chance to cta but when it comes to smaller ones lack of creativity becomes the main problem. Also they have huge gap in defense which is a thing they must fix

Its hard to replicate rhe never die attitude, that only happens with Turkish players that grew up in Turkey. Current Turkish players grew up in European cities, so they dont have that same grit and warrior attitude

Well, I think this analysis is missing a point. Turkish football is in a transition stage. Given the recent injuries, mainly in defence, it may not be the perfect blend of two generations but I think we're gonna see the real impact of young stars in the next tournament. For this one, I think Ferdi Kadioglu, Ismail Yuksek (if he returns fit from injury), Kenan Yildiz, Arda Guler and Baris Alper will be the shining stars. But we have a real problem in defence as both Caglar and Ozan are missing because of the injuries and Merih is not in form.

I think the turkish descent people will support their almanca takim but if turkiye does well they may swap jersey.. I hope Turkey does well its been a long time.

Good analysis. I don't expect much in this tournament because simply we have no depth. Our goalkeepers are so clumsy. Ozan Kabak just had an acl injury against Italy who was very important player for us in centre back because other options are just terrible. We have some talent, and yes, now we can defend as a unit as you mentioned but we cannot score. We don't have any legit striker. Creativity is an issue as well. Arda Guler is just too young and inexperienced, I am not sure he can give us that creativity this early.

Character comes with capability though. Those players were underrated, and newer players are overrated.
