600 specialists of medicinal science gathered in Oulu for the SSAI 2024, the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine Congress on June 17-19. The theme of the congress was the future of medicine from the perspective of technology.
Oulu is a compact city with easy mobility where event venues are close to each other. The SSAI Congress utilized the Oulu Music Centre, Pohjankartano and the Hupisaari Open-Air Theatrer as venues. The participants discussed that the venues worked well, and the services were excellent.

Additionally, we worked together with the Oulu University Hospital’s organizing committee’s team and the city of Oulu’s Event and Regional Services”, states the University of Oulu’s Professor of Anaesthesiology Janne Liisanantti.

Oulu saw an exceptional number of international visitors on June 12-16, 2024, when the European Junior Chamber held their conference in the city. The meeting brought together over 1400 participants from over 40 countries. Oulu has the capacity to organize congresses of over a thousand participants. The event was organized by the Junior Chamber of Oulu and the Tar Valley JCI.
