Europe, the Swedish rock band, was formed in 1979 by vocalist Joey Tempest, guitarist John Norum, bassist Peter Olsson, drummer Tony Reno, bass guitarist Marcel Jacob and keyboardist Mic Michaeli. Olsson departed early, and John Levén took over bass duties. The classic lineup solidified with these members and gained international fame.
