Thinking left wing Germany is in favour of border controls is like thinking Starmer won't stop the winter fuel allowance -there's elections. They'll say anything.
And in the same time the same government is sending huge ammounts of money to people that are helping people cross the Mediterranean Sea... It is also very telling that no one talks about these people who are being pushed into Poland by the German police across the Polish-German border -> and there are over month old videos of German police leaving them on a Polish parking lot near a supermarket and they drive away leaving these people without care, not notifying anyone on the Polish side -> and it was their first "visit" to Poland contrary to what German official sources claim...
Sort of like communism and socialism. It's a childish belief system promulgated by smart elitists who want to destroy the middle class so they can take over and rule without hindrance.
The EU can still operate with borders. Nothing wrong with being selective about the people you want coming to your country. Everywhere outside of Europe does it.

It's just a temporary measure to hoodwink the voters into believing that they'll stop the migrant crisis, when it's simply a ploy to neutralize the AfD. Once the threat of the AfD has passed, it'll be back to normal.

Well they want to send you to war in Ukraine shortly.... So suddenly the EU is trying to "Make Patriotism Great Again" by belatedly trying to pander to a national identity. This is not Ukraine's fault. They simply want to be free of Moscow's malign influence. The real fault is Merkel. As a "Child of the Soviet Union", she had no German patriotism, no sense of German pride. She wanted to turn the European Union into a Soviet Union 2.0 but Gay-er. She was attracted to Russia by habit and suspicious of America by choice. Angela Merkel convinced Europe to become Energy Dependent on Putin's gas. She neglected her NATO obligations. Germany and the other EU NATO countries all did deals with Russia.... The very country NATO was designed to defend against. The stupidity of the last 20 years is breathtaking. The EU made Putin Rich and Aggressive despite ALL the warning signs of totalitarian intent. Unbelievable hubris.
This is to fool you because Scholz got demolished in the State Elections. If you vote for them next year, they will reopen the borders. They are liars and traitors.

The EU is an absolute disaster for the smaller countries with regards to the uncontrolled illegal migration. The EU, I can see is fine for trading, but that's where it should end, countries should have the sovereign right to close their borders for security.
We had the EEC, which was supposed to be a trade group but they (those in control), wanted more power and so the EU was formed. Blair is to blame for Britain's vote for the EU.
It doesn't matter which party is in power. The whole of Westminster and its civil servants are extremely woke and loyal to the EU and the ECHR. That includes DEI, net zero, open borders, me too, feminism etc.

The cost of the initiatives in the report? €800bn per year. If the UK had been a member, we’d have to foot 12.6% of that bill. That’s about £85bn per year. Or (if you prefer) £1,700 million per week. In other words, it proposes increasing the budget by a factor of 5. If it were a member, the UK would be sending about 5% of its GDP straight to the EU. And don’t think just because ‘it’s only a report’ it won’t happen. Various watershed reports have paved the way to similar initiatives in the past: 2000 marked the birth of the EU’s Lisbon Agenda, which aimed to make the EU the “most dynamic, knowledge-based economy in the world” within a decade In 2010, after the failure of the Lisbon Agenda, the EU launched “Europe 2020”, which aimed to create “sustainable, smart, and inclusive growth across the European Union” by the end of the decade In 2019, after “Europe 2020” failed, there was the “Green New Deal”, which doubled down on the above plans but with wind power added in Two years later we had the “Coronavirus Recovery Fund”, with €750 extra spending. Macron called it a “turning point” for the European economy. And now this. Why have all the initiatives so nakedly failed? Because the solution (as always) is the problem. Every new initiative involves doubling down on every factor that makes Europe perform badly in the first place. If growth were created by government spending, generous welfare benefits, protectionism, subsidies, centralisation and regulation, Europe would be the best economy in the world, by far. Matthew Lynn puts it well: "The EU has turned the single market, originally designed to boost its competitiveness, into a regulatory monster that crushes growth with bureaucratic regulations that ban innovation before it has even be tried, make it almost impossible for entrepreneurs to launch new products, and increasingly closes the continent off from the rest of the world. " This aligns with my view of the EU’s single market; the world’s most destructive economic construct of the modern age. Even the Guardian doesn’t seem impressed. It notes that according to the report: The EU faces a “slow and agonising decline” Years of stagnation need to be reversed by €750-€800bn per year, or 5% of EU GDP, to be spent by the European Commission “We are already in crisis mode” said the report’s author, Mario Draghi, adding “We are becoming smaller relative to the challenges we face” It bears repeating: The solution to the EU’s poor performance and increasing irrelevance, is “more Europe”. Always more Europe. Reports like this never seem to ask themselves crucial questions like “if only we’d had a little bit less Europe these past 30 years, would we have been in this mess today?” Glad you left yet? I've been wondering if all the nations left/ became independent maybe Europe might become prosperous and glorious once again. Perhaps celebrating our differences and forsaking this forced and false brotherhood ironically might be the solution. Love thy neighbour but don't tear down the fence I suppose.

Lived in Germany for about 12 years and travel back and forth to Italy loads. I can tell you it's not just Germany, there's random checks on most borders but the last couple of years they've completely ramped it up. Thing is, I was on a few busses and trains and it was mainly Ukrainians they were pulling off because their refugee status limits them to the country they are registered in. They've been travelling all over Europe thinking they're on holiday.
The difference is that the size of the government was reduced from the super state in Brussels, about which we can do nothing, to the much smaller national state in London, about which we CAN. It's up to each and every one of us.

The Shengen area is for EU citizens, not illegal immigrants. Why does Germany even write to EU about their border controls? EU citizen will be allowed through as usual, nothing will change for them.
Interesting how through being more inclusive by letting all those people in, they have actually divided the EU once again. For years you could travel and work wherever you wanted, but now all the borders are tightening up again
I think this is a prelude to 15 min cities, closed borders, QR codes etc. "for your safety off course". Never give away freedoms in exchange for safety.

A dramatic u-turn where deporting millions of people is concerned is a nightmare of logistics that is critical to survival of nations and their cultures which *must* begin immediately. We have to investigate *how* this problem began and *who* was responsible for it and what we can do to *make sure* that it never happens again.

Isn't having good security for people entering any country a given, seems like good old common sense to me, and of course it is the duty of leaders to keep all members of the public safe as that is their job
