The great thing was that Gary had it all, great technique, mechanics, musicality, originality and feeling. He was also an allrounder. He could play many genres.
RIP Gary. He did not write this tho. This tune was composed by Max Middleton, the keyboard player for Cozy Powell band and the original version is found on Cozy's "Over the top" album. Clem Clempson plays on the original recording. I'm not gonna say he is better than Gary Moore, it's an individual taste, but he also has an amazing tone an feel. so the original worth checking out.
Nice tribute from a great guitar player to one of the greatest rock&blues guitar players ever. I get goosebumps to remember when I saw Gary himself playing this outstanding instrumental with the Wild Frontier Tour in the 80's .
"The greatest guitarist ever"??? He was ONE of the greatest guitarists ever!!!... What do you know about guitar playing-NOTHING, but you comment, like every IDIOT!!!
Oh my God John Norum and the rest of the band make me cry... This is a sentimental and beautiful song. Don't worry Gary Rip, John will keep you alive in the earth
Gary acctually despised John. Gary thought John had copied his style straight of. He probably wouldnt want to be remembered by John. In my opinion John does a great job thought.
***** +Aydan Watkins I know. I am also a guitar player and Norum is a huge inspiration for me. I love that guy. The hate thing is actually only Gary who knows if its true. He has stated that he despised Norum in a the Sweden Rock magazine. I could even prove if you can read swedish. I dont have a opinion about it, I love em both. Im just saying what Gary said himself. About the strat I have no idea. Norum used different strats on the final countdown album one of them where a Gary Moore's 1962 re-issue strat. If he got it from Gary I dont know.
John always said Gary was HUGE for him wanting to pick up and play guitar. You can hear it in his phrasing, beautiful wide vibrato and playing purely for the song in itself. I've been coming back to this video for years now. And will continue to do so. You the man Mr Norum! 🎸 God speed the late great Gary Moore, I'm off to rewatch Gary's Stockholm 1987 show which in my opinion is absolutely untouchable.
Norum plays with his heart and true feelings. He can really present feelings with his guitar.play. He is one with his guitar. One of the best guitarplayers in the world!!
Norum has always had the tone and aggression of Gary. I've never seen Gary play the final countdown solo (surely the most underrated piece of guitar work ever) but I bet he loved it (or more likely tutted and muttered 'piece of piss that ' -with a grin)!
Oh Gary had speed too man .he did a good job on Gary's song but no one can play it like Gary .loved that man and his music .I shed tears thinking of this song
norum was my first "guitar obsession", and looking back at him, he is truly an underrared artist, such tone and feel are not something that i hear often, and that wha, amazing, gave me a unique emotion🔥
I'm so fortunate I had the opportunity to see Gary live just a few years before he past away. What a guitarist! What an intense show! He delivered and then some! See you some time in the future, Gary. Rest well until then, mate.
Maravilloso tributo a Gary Moore de nuestro gran guitarrista John Norum. En el sonido de los rasguidos de su guitarra de aprecia su admiración por este gran músico.
great tone why people cry? its the culture now to complain about everything, wish i could play like john , i been playin for decades but i am not talented like him, reminds me of people cryin bout malmsteen... too fast, clapton to slow, just enjoy life, music thx to god ther are so many better players than me i would be so bored if i were too good
Dude I Cannot Stop Watching This. I love this song so much and oh my god is John Absolutely Freaking Amazing!!! He is one of the best out there imo and hes one of my favorite players him and Doug Aldrich and John Sykes to name a few I Also Love Gary so Damn much Also. and cant forget about Randy. RR also.
