Europe is home to some of the best, most immaculately themed roller coasters in the world. What they may lack in record-breaking thrills, they make up for with full experiences that completely reimagine what a roller coaster can be.

something that might fly under your radar is schwur des kärnan my personal favorite: Great Story, great theming, incredible elements and just so happens to be the tallest coaster in Germany

The steampunk theme is a goldmine for theme parks as its rusty brass/copper looks can easely hide or seamlessly incorporate steel roller coasters and not breaking the immersion. So many possibilities can be born just by using the steampunk style with a little bit of creativity.

The original Paris Space Mountain was my favorite coaster. Now, Hyperspace Mountain isn't even in my top 40 attractions... Disney made a BIG mistake with Hyperspace Mountain and I don't understand why they stick with this "temporary" overlay.

One big tip for people coming over to Europe to experience these and other great themed coasters for the first time: make sure you have time to ride them multiple times! Because there is so much to see and feel, you are likely overwhelmed by it all the first time you ride it and only from the 2nd and 3rd time you truly have the space to take it all in :)

Seeing something like fantastic wood work as a highlight of a theme park kinda touched me. My Opa (Grandpa) who I never met came to America from Germany when the Nzis were in power and he made beautiful art from carving wood. But once he came to the states he had to work regular counter jobs since his woodworking skill had little use and paid little money in the states. It's nice to see those badass dudes keeping the skill alive 🪵

since amusement park chains only gained a foothold in europe very late (disney and universal with initial investments in the 1990s), many independent theme parks have emerged such as europapark, phantasialand, toverland, Alton Towers, the walibi parks, linnanmäki, liseberg, grönalund, tivoli gardens, etc The list is just too long. And my top 3 in Europa are: #1 Efteling #2 Phantasialand #3 PortAventura Since I live in Germany and have seen a lot of world-class parks in Europe, but have only been to Florida and the East Coast in the USA, it's very difficult for me to say which is better. From what I've seen, the variety in Europe is better and the theme parks are more aimed at creating unique attractions. And if you completely deduct the theming, Europa has with Wildfire, Untamed, Kondaa, Ride to happiness, Zadra, Hyperion, Helix, Schwur des Kärnan, Lech Coaster, Taron, Fly, Expedition Geforce, Taiga, iSpeed and Shambhala (hopefully I named them all) numerous world-class roller coasters. However, the only thing that doesn't really matter much to me is the size/quantity of roller coasters. The USA is clearly better there. My final summary: Pls guys focus more on overall ride experiences and quality.

It must also be stated that some of the parks are older than the ones found "across the pond" that have done a great job not only "staying relevant" by "plussing" what they have seen in America. Walt Disney borrowed Tivoli Gardens lights, cleanliness + spirit of NEVER being finished. Europe gets a lot RIGHT!

Lovely video, we really do have it easy here in Europe! Just one little correction, Space Mountain wasn’t actually the first coaster to have onboard audio, it was actually Casey Jr, also in DLP which technically is a roller coaster! Taron in Phantasia is a solid ride but I can't say I remember it much- I absolutely loved the boomerang ride there though. F.L.Y was not open when I visited and overall I feel the older bits of Phantasia is a bit poor. Efteling is awesome though and Baron is just so so fun! The whole park is just a different feeling to other parks. (I'm from the UK so Baron's shortness is easy to overlook next to Oblivions) Great video and fantastic editing and flow as always!
@AudreyMealiff

Wow, I found the exact opposite- I think that Taron is an incredible ride and Raik is just average with nothing much to offer. Just like your visit, FLY was closed when we visited in November. We were so disappointed. 💔 We'll just have to go back. Efteling is on the list too.
@HliarusProd
@HliarusProd Год назад
I found Raik pretty surprising as a family coaster, especially it's actual lap bar, and small pop of ejector airtime exiting the station. Taron was amazing, but so we're Black Mamba and Colorado adventure, with both feeling quite long tbh ! But the real star was F.L.Y. . I've ridden Tatsu before, but nothing compares to the actual feeling of flight FLY gives you... The theming and proximity to paths makes the experience actually incredible

portaventura in Spain also has some great rides, but the theming is strongest around the park itself rather than on the individual coasters! Also a park with a really interesting history having been owned by Tussauds, Anheuser-Busch and universal!

Taron and Fly are amazing. So ist Flucht von Novgorod in my home park Hansa Park. Even the powered mine train in Europapark has a load of theming in its cave. Maybe it's the fact that most of the parks are family owned and they take a lot of pride in it.

I would say some American coasters are better for their experience mixed in with the ride, like Velocicoaster. But I do prefer the European way of doing coasters. When all your coasters are themed and well built then it just provides a more satisfying park experience.

@aiv4873
@aiv4873 Год назад
@When Is dinner Bro I am American and I would love to see more themed coasters. But my local park, SF discovery kingdom is a bum. The coasters are great and fun but the most themed elements are the names.
@whenisdinner2137
@whenisdinner2137 Год назад
@@aiv4873 well yeah but Six Flags is by far the worst of the chains at theming by a country mile. Like it's not even close. They make Cedar Fair parks look like Islands of Adventure in comparison. I know the feeling because Great America is my home park but at least I'm close enough to the rest of the Midwest parks to travel relatively easily.
@aiv4873
@aiv4873 Год назад
@When Is dinner My point is just that the method of heavy theming is better. Europe has less major parks than we do, so each one they make better be good. Comparatively we've got better themed parks and we've got more of them, Universal, Disney, Busch Gardens, etc. I just wish my local park was a bit more themed and offered a better experience. If I lived in Orlando or LA, I'd say that European parks can't hold a candle to American parks.

Hi Guys ! Love your content, and as we are from Europe, you should definitely check other parks like Toverland, Heide Park, Gardaland, Fraispertuis City... Lots of potential and great theming everywhere ! You state around 7'10" that Space Mountain : De La Terre à La Lune is the world's first rollercoaster to feature On Board audio, well, it's not the case, but the real one is pretty close : it's the Casey Jr. - le Petit Train du Cirque, it's a Vekoma E-powered train and there's On Board audio in it, synchronized with the layout. It was used as a test by Vekoma and Imagineering for the forthcoming french Space Mountain. Casey Jr openend in April 1994, and SM : DLTALL opened in May 1995 ;) By the way, we're french podcasters dealing with Theme Parks all around the world, and we have a few episodes in english with two former Imagineers like Tim Delaney who was in charge of Discoveryland and Space Mountain ! You'll learn a few things there if you're interested :D
