I’ve been teaching online for the last four years. However since China has declared it basically illegal, I’ve not had enough European base to continue doing this full-time. That prompted me to go try to find a job. Except I have a three or gapped it looks like I was in prison because that’s the first question people ask me. How long was I in jail for or what was I in jail for. I tried to log onto the website and show them where I had been teaching. They said without someone to talk to to verify my skills they weren’t interested. I tried to show them contracts to prove that I had been employed. The response was great you weren’t in prison now where is your references. Online teaching was one of the most rewarding jobs that I ever had. I truly loved doing it. It broke my heart when it went away. Careerwise it was probably one of the most devastating blows to my ability to be employed. And that’s before you even consider that these are all 1099 screw your taxes jobs if you’re inside the US.

Also if you try to expand out into other ESL companies you run into the additional problem of meeting references that cannot be provided

@@filipastojsavljevic3506 I went back to my brick and mortar school. Everyone wants references and they’re just not available. I can show them contracts proving that I’ve worked there but no references

Upon checking, it seems that the company changed their application link. Unfortunately, the website didn't update their article but if you explore their website you'll find a long list of ESL companies there. 🙂

That ain’t true. You can apply as long as you are qualified

If you mean online Chinese schools, they can not hire all foreigners , including native English, who are outside of China. If you mean in class teaching, it depends on exact province, but exactly at this period of time it is almost impossible to get a job there if you want to get a work visa in for the first time in China.

Yes, a lot of ESL companies have higher standards now.
