European Hare's Daytime Nest Positions 

The "nests" are depressions (pits) in the dense vegetation of the open terrain, which hides the brown hare well. In agricultural lands, the nest recess is dug to a depth of about 10 cm, from which, in such a terrain, good visibility of the surroundings is required. In winter, a shallow depression in the snow.
"Our" hare has made it's daytime nest underneath the peonies in our flower bed, that is approx 2-3 meters away from the house wall. Our living room windows are straight towards it so we have a special place to watch the hare sleep and wash itself etc.
