These northern state flags like New York Connecticut Massachusetts Vermont New Hampshire Maine are terrible

The Maryland flag looks like somebody's attempt at an optical illusion. I feel like I'm going to have a seizure looking at it.

It's copper. A reference to the copper mining industry of the state.

Connecticut's isn't even that bad. I remember in class growing up in Michigan thinking our flag looked stupid, and then I saw that the Wisconsin flag is somehow an even worse version of the same idea.

@mynameismike9507 I see you watched the KnowledgeHub video on the subject. It's fairly more complicated than Google will say. A lot of nation-state movements in Central America were formed in the mid-19th Century, particularly bootstrapped by American citizens who wanted more land for 'farming'. While illegal, said citizens raised private militias to help these places gain independence in exchange for a deal with the US. Texas and California were such examples (they both had rebellions against Mexico in 1836, but California's Lone Star Revolt is hardly talked about), but so were the unsuccessful attempts of Rio Grande and Yucatan. Then there's Nicaragua, who replaced its government for a short time due to William Walker's intervention. But all these movements had stars on their flags as a nod and a nudge to US interests.

If half of the flags look the same, of course they're gonna be in the same rank. I just happen not to like texts on flags. :)

@@GeoPeter Utah actually has a redesign for their flag that they made this year and will be in effect on March 9, 2024! It's MUCH better than their old one... lol
