@@jonathonfrazier6622 I hear what you’re saying, and to some extent, I agree. What’s important about guns is that they equalize power between the government and the governed. That’s why gun control is so insidious. I haven’t watch the video yet, but Cuba is one of many countries in which the people lost their access to guns, and then the government clamped down. You can’t make yourself taller, necessarily, but you can definitely make yourself a good shooter with practice! ❤

Hello! Texan (and naturally, a gun enthusiast) here! I have to say that you have the right idea of why Americans have a gun culture. I don't speak directly for them, but a lot of Cubans who come here to America are VERY pro-gun because of the brutality they faced under the Castro dynasty. Let me clarify a few things for you: Machine gun ownership is heavily restricted in the United States under the National Firearms Act of 1934, the Gun Control Act of 1968 and the Hughes Amendment of 1986. Under the NFA, you have to pay a $200 tax stamp and wait about 9 months to own a machine gun (you also have to register the weapon with the government; but you don't have to register semi-auto weapons). Under the Hughes Amendment of 1986 (officially known as the Firearm Owners Protection Act, which actually does almost nothing but further restrict gun rights), civilians are pretty much prohibited from owning fully automatic weapons made after May 19, 1986 unless they have a super special license from the government. As a result, most civilian legal machine guns are prohibitively expensive (about $25,000 on average for an M16 rifle) You may go to certain gun ranges and rent a machine gun without the need for a tax stamp under the NFA. But of course, you are not allowed to take it outside the range. So many people are scared of guns because they more than likely didn't handle them a lot as a kid. I grew up around guns and my dad taught me to shoot when I was 13. Some people teach their kids how to shoot at a much younger age. Another reason that people are scared of guns is because they don't know (or don't have the experience of) how to handle them. As long as you follow the four universal rules of firearm safety which are: 1. - Treat all guns as if they are always loaded. 2. - Never let the muzzle point at anything that you are not willing to destroy. 3. - Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on target and you have made the decision to shoot. 4. - Be sure of your target and what is behind it. It requires a lot of training and preparation in order to get these rules down and know them by heart. One last thing, is that the mainstream media around the world fails to acknowledge that there is a HUGE emphasis on safety in American gun culture. There is also a tendency to portray American gun owners (especially Southerners/Texans like me) as bloodthirsty people looking for a fight, but nothing could be further from the truth. Many gun enthusiasts here in America VALUE life. Hope this has helped you gain insight into the gun situation here in America! Have a great day, Andre!

Yoel and Mari have great content. Most Americans take what we have for granted. We don’t even think about all the food, cars and trucks, getting on a plane and flying to wherever. If we can’t find an item at a store we order it online. The biggest problem is college students learning to be socialist and wanting the United States to become a socialist nation. We have everything from being a capitalist nation and yet the youth of today thinks everything should be free and not have to work for it.

At one point I managed an indoor shooting range/gun store near an automotive plant that was Japanese owned. Once they found our place the Japanese employees that would rotate into the states would visit us on a regular basis. It was always a fun weekend when they came. First, one who had been there before would show them all of the guns for sale. We would get out the ones they wanted to see and were always amazed the first time they were handed a weapon to handle. I cannot count how many times one of them would hold a .44 Magnum up and pose for pictures saying, "Dirty Harry!". Then their tour guide would inform them of the shooting range and that they could shoot if they wanted to. I never saw a single one turn down the opportunity. We would start them off with Ruger .22 pistols because we had four of them in the rental case. Then various revolvers in .38 SPL, .357 Magnum and, of course, .44 Magnum. (We sold ammo too.) Then a couple of AR platforms followed by the finale, a 9MM Uzi. (Did I mention we also sold ammo?) They were almost reverent toward to Uzi by that point and treated it with great respect as I guided them through two full magazines per person. Oddly, only the Japanese who chose to stay in the states ever became regulars. One of whom also took a few classes from me and later got his concealed carry permit through me. He was an amazing student. He really wanted an MP5 but couldn't pull enough strings to get the OK. He started to get into the training for his personal safety since he was some kind of hot shot with the company. Then he got that damned bug some of us get when we get a hold of a real quality firearm.........

See it’s simple civilians without guns can’t oppose their suppressing government. In the US sure our government may not always do the right thing but civilians can rise up against them if needed to that’s why the 2nd amendment exists and I’m so thankful the founding fathers thought of that cuz imagine if we didn’t have it we’d for sure be just like Cuba

IN MY VIEW Our American Constitution says we have a right to defend ourselves. Owning and seeing guns are not a 'shock' to Americans. American laws use strict rules about who are NOT allowed to buy guns. However, there are bad people who break these laws to sell guns. We have stores and other outlets who legally sell guns. Gun safety is important to Responsible & Accountable gun owners. Some business have certified instructors who teach about guns (safety and how to use). We have safe environments to shoot your gun. Family gun owners teach other family members how to safely shoot guns.
@IvoryOxen

4 gun safety rules 101: Always, Keep, Treat & Never! -Always point your firearm in a safe direction. -Keep your finger off the trigger, unless you are ready to fire -Treat every weapon as if it is loaded (even if you know it is not) -Never point your firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy! This is exactly why we hold on to our 2A rights. You are right there are no bad guns just people. They give everyone a license to drive 2,000lb weapons called vehicles everyday.

Yoel and Mari have mentioned this issue in the early days of their channel. There is little food for the citizens because it goes to the wealthy citizens and the restaurants that feed the wealthy and all the tourists. Which of course the majority of citizens making less than $50.00 per month can’t afford to eat in. The citizens are also banned from fishing, denying them the ability of another way of feeding themselves and their families. I use to have family that lived there. No way would I ever step foot in one of these countries that deny their citizens basic human rights. Food is the most basic. I wouldn’t help support the regime with my money. That’s just me though. Americans can visit but there are restrictions.

Andre, it's not political to be American :-) The Constitution defines the country and Americans should be able to understand that -- even of some of them don't. Among other constitutionally recognized (_not_ allowed?) _individual_ rights, is that of being armed. The State _not_ having the monopoly of violence, _is_ the principal reason behind it. You're more American than a lot of people born in the States. I don't know how, but you should find your way to America; you belong, friend.

Machine-guns/fully automatic weapons are STRICTLY controlled and require a special Federal Firearms License to own one. The AR he's holding at about 9:00 is pretty standard, it has an optic instead of the iron sights; my SIG had a similar loadout. I have found that teaching women, even if they are afraid at first, is easier than guys because they will LISTEN to everything one says and asks questions. Many, not all, guys are like, "yeah I know xxxx". Then they...suck at putting rounds on target.

Dunno if the laws have changed since I looked at them in the 90's, but you need a Federal Firearms License to own a machine gun and you also have to deal with state and local laws as to whether or not you can actually fire them. Back then, the only state that allowed the public to fire a fully automatic weapon was Arizona. Gun dealers, pawnbrokers and businesses that operated gun ranges also needed them although there are different classes of a FFL. Gun ranges, and especially indoor gun ranges, sell ammo that are lightly loaded, to reduce the stress on the metal plates used to richochet the bullets to the sand pits at the end of the range. You can tell by the lack of visible bright muzzle flashes when they are firing their weapons that these are not standard factory loads but light loads.

Yoel and Mari are such sweet people! They remind all of us in developed/capitalist countries how good we have it. We should be grateful and strive to preserve these freedoms and blessings for the next generation.

No idea why Europeans are fascinated by guns. I've had more interesting screwdrivers.

You must remember that from our earliest history the colonists needed guns to shoot animals for protection from some of them and to eat! Then there was the French and Indian War, the American Revolution, etc. as the country grew the citizens continued to shoot game for the above reasons and we have a lot of wilderness. It’s a sport here and our ridiculous press exaggerates and love to show crimes committed here. You need security checks to purchase a gun and criminals, sadly, often get them illegally.

I have never understood why the US meddles in the affairs of countries half a world away from us but allows the communist nation of Cuba to exist right off our shore. The Cuban people are suffering & have been for decades. The US should take out the communist government there & make it a territory of the US for a time then allow to the Cuban people to vote to either remain a US territory or to establish their own democratic government. That would be a true humanitarian mission.

The Bay of Pigs. It was a thing. National embarrassment. We could probably do something now, i just don't know what that would look like. I thought Obama's efforts in this direction were good. I expected the Cuban government to get their heads out of their butts. That didn't happen.

For a long time it was because of the clod war and doing anything to Cuba would basically be declaring war with the USSR. Now with the soviet threat gone Cuba is no longer a threat and has nothing to offer resource wise.

@@MicahWo Yeah, God forbid that our government just did something because it's the right thing to do & there's no oil involved.

Yes we can. Pay the government $200.00 pass an extensive background check, wait a year or so for approval, and then pony up the $20,000.00+ to purchase one.
