I was born in Sitges and there were so many beautiful coastal and rural towns I visted when I was a child. Hell there was basically a mountain range just a mile out from town. I am American. I felt like, as an American, I had to let you know that, despite this video being about Europe.

As a portuguese, although i can confirm that block is definetly portuguese, my guess is what we call "bairros sociais", which is our version of social housing. They are neighborhoods built by governmental entities in usually kinda-well located areas of major cities, although they are usually EXTREMELY dangerous when compared to other housing areas. Some good examples of this are the Bairro do Cerco and the Bairro da Pasteleira in Porto, and the Chelas Area of Lisbon, composed of 4 BAIRROS As for the "prime piece of real estate", its also very easy to explain. The area the house is on is very hilly and old. The streets are inadequate for cars and other building equipment to go through. Meaning, if one were to try to renew it, it would be very expensive, since it would all have to been moved by people and very ineficient equipment. Think of it as if the pyramids had to be built today, but even with all the equiment we currently have technically available, we could only use cartwheels and human builders Also, thank you for the rating you gave us...
