Tip: Open the black water first, then open the grey water second. As the grey water is dish water, shower water, laundry water, etc., it will flush out the most unpleasant material from the sewer hose. Then cleanup afterward is less unpleasant. I think the shower was cold because perhaps the water heater wasn't on.

My Tip: Open the grey water FIRST, for a second or two-(to check hose and connections for leaks), shut grey water off. If no leak was present, THEN open black tank until emptied, shut black tank off and re-open grey tank to flush stinky slinky hose! (At least that's how I do it)! If your hose or connections have a leak, you will be SO glad you found the leak with the grey water!

As a 34+ year truck driver, I so enjoy your fresh approach to the normal life on the road and off the road in the United States. I'm so glad that you realized it's ok to change your life plans, ain't no one living it as you, but you! Many of the places you have shown in the States, I've been to, and your venture across the Mojave was so awesome, having spent my teenage summer time with my grandfather in the Mojave, it brought back so many memories of him. Thank you for sharing your adventures!

We call those Land Yachts. The idea isn't 'camping', but more like a turtle shell, where you bring your home with you everywhere you go. It's perfect for people like me (although I prefer my yacht in the water) who want to travel but are also a homebody type of person. I hate moving, but I want to move all the time... It's literally just a portable house rather than a 'camper'. There are in-betweens. You can do the 'tiny house' lifestyle on a small camper, small boat, etc.. It doesn't have to be 40' and expensive or luxurious. But, it's still a world apart from 'camping' or van-life style living. You have everything you need, and most of what you want, right inside your own home like everyone else. But with like 85% of the mobility you would have with a smaller camping style. Which, for a lot of people, is the perfect compromise.
@CaliMeatWagon

Yeah, I was going to comment that most Americans don't consider that to be "camping".

Good job with the class A. Wife and I sold our house and now full time in a 40' 5th wheel and we love it. It is indeed a lifestyle and not necessarily for everyone. Met some wonderful people. We're still learning after 3 years but wouldn't trade it for anything! Started as weekend warriors in a cabin tent, went to a small class C, then an entry level simple travel trailer, finally our "rolling earthquake" 5ver with our beagle and coonhound. Couldn't be happier.

Wife, German Shepherd Dogs and I spent 9 years post retirement in a couple different 43' Dutchstars. You did a good job picking a quality RV to play with. You are 100% correct that big RV isn't for everyone. The best advice is YOU DO YOU! Congrats on how you transitioned in your approach to being authentic to yourself. It can be very hard moving from one dream to another. Keep pressing on!

My friend’s mom lives in an RV parked in his driveway. It’s been the perfect solution for keeping an older parent close, but giving her the independence and privacy she deserves. She is gracious enough to allow us to take her home out for a drive once a year. Every summer we go the beach and stay at a RV park right on the water. It has a doggy beach on the bay that we really enjoy with our dogs. We meet new people at the RV park every summer, and everyone has been so nice and laidback. It’s refreshing. I gotta say my favorite thing is how dog friendly the park is. It’s a treat being able to swim, play or dine at the cafe with my dog. I really enjoy RV life. Great way to travel, vacation and live.

Full time RVers are generally the nicest people as a group I've ever encountered in my travels. My first encounter was as a teen when the mountain passes closed ahead and behind us, and the RVers invited all us car people into their homes to stay warm through the night until the plows could get through. We had dinner, played cards, and told stories. In the morning, one of the RVs couldn't close its slideout and the entire group worked together to figure it out and get everyone on their way. 20 years later, I had a clutch go out while working a traveling job in my own car far from home, and an RV pulled over on the highway with me and offered to tow my car and ride with them the 500 MILES back to Oregon, simply because "Oregon sounds nice, lets go see it". It's seriously just like all overlanders who decided to drive a house instead.

In 1974 my dad took our family of 8 across the US in a 74 Dodge van and popup camper. We traveled for a month and made it to Colorado with a lot of stops along the way. We always stayed in KOA campgrounds as my dad bought a membership before our trip. Wonderful memories with my parents and my 5 siblings on that trip. He took us out again for 5 weeks in 1979 in a mobile home (RV) minus my two oldest brothers as they had jobs by that time. Got all the way to California that time and we brought one of my friends along with us. So many stories from those trips....my dad is awesome !

My grandparents were snowbirds and traveled the US full time after they retired. Literally every year of my childhood included a visit from them in the beginning of each summer. Every year they had a newer and better RV. They finally landed in the town they originated from and parked their RV in a family lot owned by my great uncles not long before they passed. I swear there wasn't a place they hadn't been. I always looked forward to seeing them pull in, always hated seeing them leave. :)

Now, providing my health improves, I will travel in a Hybrid SUV and stay in motels. It is annoying to have to realize what you could do at 23 is not possible at 77. Next trip is to Newfoundland, Canada this Fall. It will be different because my wife and companion died 2 years ago so I will most likely be traveling alone. That will be different. I actually read this in highschool my senior year in 1972. I liked the book but my take on it was a little different from some others in the class. Some people connected spiritually, some saw self reliance and positive thoughts. Me, it was all about flying. My grandfather had a little two seat airplane and would take me flying until he sold it when I was 10. I loved flying, being up high in the air looking down. That's what the book said to me. And yes, I became a pilot. Hmmm, maybe it did have to do with self reliance and positive thoughts. 🦅

The salt and ice scrub the reservoir then when you hook up and dump it, it's cleaner than it would have otherwise been. Long ago when I first began my airline career with Continental Airlines, I was a ground handler. One of my jobs was lav service. Nobody liked doing it. The biggest fear was the discharge hose coming loose. With aircraft, the attach point is always above you so if the hose disconnects, you're screwed! There were a few rampers who got spilled on but I, fortunately, did not. I always made sure the coupler was securely attached and when I pulled the lever, I jumped away from the Smurf truck. We called it the Smurf Truck due to the blue toilet fluid. What was really awful was servicing the truck when taken to the grinder. When you're ready to dump, you take a deep breath and hold it at the same time you pull the dump lever and then you RUN LIKE HELL outside! That is the worst part of ground handling. I had a good laugh when your discharge hose kept disconnecting. Glad to see you like the USA. If you ever come east, give me a call and I'll take you for a boat ride. Don't expect a 40 foot yacht. I'm not from the Wolves of Wall Street.

As a Utah native that recently moved abroad and was always inspired by cool travel vlogs, it's FASCINATING to see your perspective on lil Ol' Utah. Especially because you focus on completely different parts than most people. I knew it was Utah before you even said anything 😂. Hope you enjoyed your time in the Beehive State! 😊

I couldn't agree more Eva. I've travelled extensively throughout the US since 1972, both for my job and hols, specifically the four corners area, they are everywhere. As you say, there are so many limitations as to where you can go. I prefer your style of travel. Loved going into the wilder placed to see real nature. As a guy who tent camps in campgrounds en route to destinations, I always wondered what those huge RVs are like inside. So, thanks for the tour! Also, like you, we like to walk around and chuckle at how the RVs are named. . . Isn't Utah great? Looking forward to the next vid.

I lived in an Rv for about 8 years. At the time I was a Journeyman Electrician and worked nation wide. So I'd go to a job in California for a year then a Job in Kansas or wherever. It was way easier than finding a new apartment in a new city every 8-24 months and way more comfortable than always staying in a hotel. But I've been to 45 states and lived in 18. And I always pulled my truck which has a tapui tent on the roof and if i wanted to get out there for a weekend or whatever I could.

I had a 35 ft travel, trailer, that I pulled with my extended cab 4x4 Dodge, and I was probably 62 ft bumper to bumper, and it's definitely different, you have to remember u have 40 foot of trailer hooked up to the bumper of your 22-foot truck!!!! And it takes a football field to turn around!!!!

As a kid my grandparents would take their 35footer early 70's era motor-home a lot of places. My grandpa could drive that thing anywhere it could conceivably fit. He'd back it up the driveway and into the backyard, the drive next to the house having a drop-off on the one side and a gas meter on the other, less than a foot to spare on that meter just to keep the wheels on the concrete on the other side. Mirrors only, no back-up cameras in that thing.

I had an uncle who did the RV lifestyle when he and his wife retired. They would make friends in other RVs, keep track of where they were going (and vice-versa) and meet up in different places all over the country. Their RV wasn't as big, but it had everything they needed. They traveled to every US state, including an extended trip to Alaska, and every mainland Canadian province. IDK if they ever went into Mexico, but since their "sticks-and-bricks" home was in Houston, that was a possibility.

Yay Utah! I grew up there & am at this very minute in Utah by a lake. We were in northern Wyoming for June and will head to the Olympic Peninsula in July. We moved into full-time RV life 3 years ago and it's been wonderful! Ours is half the size of that monster your driving (& cost under $50k); travel days ARE exhausting. The bigger the rig the more exhausting. RV life definitely tends to cost more per month but not by much, mostly because everything is bought in small packages, which cost more than bulk. Add in gas, repairs, gas, RV parks, gas, laundromats, etc. Happy Trails Ava! Follow your heart and navigate with your brain and your feet will find you home.
