Having been born and raised in the UK, I noticed that people who grew up with British parents tend to know less about the geography of Europe than someone with foreign parents like me.

Not only did Jo not know where my home state is, but he also called the current state I live in “The dumbest state in the United States.” Feeling great right now.

It’s interesting hearing Jo talk about his education because it’s kinda state-specific. We didn’t learn geography in Maryland at all, and I barely know where half of the states are and know basically no capital cities. Also we didn’t have truancy officers, if you missed school you just go expelled after 5 unexcused absences

Biggest surprise of this video is that other Americans went through geography testing and education. I've lived in the US ever since I was TWO and I have NEVER had a single geography class once in my life. Like, that whole "Iowa-pan-Kentucky" thing is 100% new to me as of this video. I lived in Michigan until middle school, when I moved to Nebraska, so maybe Michigan's school system didn't teach geography until middle school and Nebraska's taught it earlier so I just managed to avoid it completely lol. No wonder I've always been so much worse at geography than my friends LOL.

As a person who knows a lot about geography this video was hell, and also funny

I took an elective in high school where we memorized every country and its location. Even if I hadn't done that, it's baffling to me how unaware some people are. If someone is from the us, how is it they don't know where half the states are and how is it they continuously get east coast and west coast wrong? Edit: Not to mention the fact that they make fun of the names when many come from various Native languages 🙄

The spanish part of the family is well known for having a family circle. I've literally never heard of the chef before, but also I'm from the east coast (specifically PA), so basically everything in between the coasts is basically a guessing game for me lol (except some of the midwest, because I lived in Ohio for a while)
