Great Video. Back in 2016 I did an ahu conversion in my 95 evc. Still running strong and my mileage matches yours as well. Average 27-29 mpg never lower than 27.(US Gallon). Great point about the difference in transmission durability. I am on my second O2B duj with a .658 5th gear. Also running 1019 dsla injectors with a tune from Slavic in Vancouver Wa.

Wow what a great video. I have a 1995 Winabeago industries camper with the legendary five-cylinder gas engine. I don’t have to worry about any timing chain issues. It’s extremely reliable. After watching this I would not want to go through changing it out for a diesel five cylinder. That was a lot of expense and countless hours it sounds like. I can see your point though if you have a Bad engine and trans that it might be worth doing but the difficulty in figuring it all out with that wiring and so much more it sounds monumentes. I guess if I didn’t have other things going on with projects I could tackle it and a long stretch of time. My van only has 64,000 miles social savings to pay for it would take a very very long time. I get 20 miles a gallon going 60 mph and have pulled up mountains no problem big loads. I don’t raise up the mountains which also takes a lot more fuel. Again thank you so much for putting the video and really giving everybody a good perspective at what to expect when doing a swap like this.
Will the rear aux ac system still work with the TDI swap? I found one already swapped out but i was wondering if everything should still work as it should. The one im looking at has the 1.9 diesel
My front clip came with a compressor and was outfitted with rear ac, so debating on welding the connection to rear or sourcing the one hose. Nearly there on completion. Your video was motivation and very informative for me to know what to buy.
You also mentioned a wire which needed to be swapped or added. I am searching for details on that in samba thread but no such luck. If email is easier please conact me on username @gmail. Appreciate all the assistance I’m in the final stretch of this swap
